What helmet do you use?
Got 4 helmets @ the present.......currently wear an Arai RX-7.......best price anywhere....FREE....got it from a mate who no longer rides. Fits great!.....better than my Shoei, KBC, & Bell. Just remember......Helmets are like Ski boots.......you gotta try 'em on if you wanna be happy with your choice.

Gotta be a Thump to yield that kind of MPG. Although I'm rather partial to the old skool IL4, I do like the Retro look.

starter motor/starter clutch problem??
Not totally familiar with the TR1, but this sounds very similar to a scenario I had with my 550 Seca.....ended up being a Starter Circuit cut-off relay.......which I was able to bypass with a jumper wire.
-
Second Bike
A fresh battery is always a good place to start. A dodgy starter relay may be another possible culprit.
-
More problems, more advice needed!!!
Could also be a starter solenoid issue.

Majesty 400...buzzing??
Could be inside the clocks themselves. Had this happen awhile back with my XT, which has dodgy clocks from the factory So, in the interest of expense......I just yanked the tach & drive assy. completely.

XS400 Maxim headlight
@ 1 time.....I swapped the headlight from my '82 400 Seca (Halogen bulb unit) onto my 550 Seca (sealed beam).... What an improvement!! .......Highly recommended!....plus the halogen bulbs can be had for less than 10 bux.....bought 1 for my XT not too long ago, for only $6.
