Does anyone know if Yamaha uses the same parts for motorcycle and marine engines. Internet search for tx500 oil filter #371-13440-09-00 turned up this My linkon best boat parts.com.

Sorry to lead you down the wrong path. I was hoping it would work for all of us with tx/xs 500's

It looks like a TX500. I just bought a 1974 about a month ago and some parts like oil filters are proving to be a challenge. Keep us posted on your progress.

Buried in this link is a gentelman who claims a oil filter from a Hyundai V6 fits on his tx 500. Has anyone else tried this? My link

The exhaust on my 74 tx500 seems restrictive with only a 1" outlet on each pipe. I'd rather not buy new as I like the the look of the pipes but it all seems welded together. Has anyone opened up these pipes? If so what's the trick. I also am planning on pod air filters which brings me to the next question of what main jets will I end up with. As always thanks for the help.

THE CONDITION IS COMPLETE BUT UNUSED. LIKE SOME ONE DROVE IT HOME AND IT IN A SHED 10 YEARS AGO. I HAVEN'T GOT TO FAR INTO IT BUT IT SEEMS TO HAVE GOOD COMPRESSION BUT WHEN I DRAINED THE FUEL TANK IT SMELLED TERRIBLE. I'LL TRY TO GET SOME PICTURES AS I GET FURTHER INTO THE PROJECT.THANKS FOR THE REPLY
