am i too tall for this?
Thanks for that mate can i just say tho when i said the 650 drag was a large cruiser i ment in size as apposed to a xv viggie. Honda do a similar size (physical size) about 750 think its called the shadow and think suzuki do one with the same size engine. You cleared up what i ment when you told me about the engine to weight ratio as thats what i really needed to know lol. Yeah that sounds a good idea just like a small trolley for the back wheel! good idea yeah i will look into that! cheers.

am i too tall for this?
hi there nice to meet someone firstly with the same tast in bikes and who has had a 125 drag and had my dilemma. What do you think of the 650 in the way of power, i would say the 650 dragstar is a large cruiser, however most large cruisers have at least 800cc motors. Also this might sound like a daft question but can you drag the arse end of the bike round or is it to heavy? The reason i ask is i have a square stone outbuilding i am keeping my 125 drag in it fits diagonally but when i put it in i need to drag the back end round to close the door. The 650 is only a couple of cms longer then the 125 so length wont be an issue but i still need to be able to drag the arse round about say 12 inches.

am i too tall for this?
Yeah i figured about the foot controls i have a xvs 125 and my knee angle is just over right angle. Not the best for a cruiser seating position. Going off the idea of a 535 as a few people are saying that they are very popular with the ladies as they are a small cruiser. I think the xvs 650 would be a better option.

Any 6 footers ride a XV 533? I am worried i am a bit tall for one. I aint sat on one yet and am contemplating buyin my mates dads. (yes i could ask him if i can sit on it but he is not taxing it this year and he is storing it in his garage) dont want to be a pain as i will need to organise to get it out of storage for a test ride when i pass my das. bla bla bla. like i say just curious.

XV Virago 553 Handle Bars
Thanks mate. I am going to buy my mates dads xv its M reg with 7k on the clock it was a limited edition one with a few extras on it. Dont know what sort of handlebars it has on tho i think they upright. but as long as i know the widest they could be i will measure the width of my back gate and door on my outbuilding. cheers

XV Virago 553 Handle Bars
XV Virago 535cc lol when i mean storing it i mean i will be keeping it in a stone outbuilding (thats where i keep my xvs dragstar at the mo, that fits so hope the virago will go in. The virago is 10mm shorter than the dragstar but not sure about the handlebars. Oh and yeah i will be riding it!

XV Virago 553 Handle Bars
Anyone who has a XV Virago with standard handle bars would you measure them to see how wide they are. I am planning on buying one and just want an idea how wide it is just for storage. Cheers Martiniman

Virago xv535
Yep thats what threw me, i have a xvs 125 and its chain driven i just presumed that lager viragos and dragstars had chains as well.

Mirrors
What so you mean one side has opposite threads?

Mirrors
Hi all, this might be a FAQ but are aftermarket/custom mirrors universal? I mean do you buy the mirror and it fits to the rod that comes from the handle bars? The bike in question is a XVS 125.

Paint
Hello I have a 03 plate Dragstar xvs 125. I believe it to be midnight black although i havnt confirmed it. Can you buy touch up sticks for small scratches/ stone chips like you can for cars?

Rattle
Right been out tonight and took special notice as to when the rattle seems to be there. Its not really when engine under load its when i come off the power, duno if i can just hear it more as the engine is quiet, still tho that's when i can hear it. As for gears, speed, or RPM duno i herd it in 2nd and 3rd so dont think that makes a difference. I will have a good look round the bike for anything loose but i still think that the clutch cable is the best lead. Cheers

Rattle
Some good advice from you all. Yes i will check the above, not sure if its a certain speed or rpm i dont have a rev counter so its a little tricky that one, i will keep an eye out to see if a pattern starts to show up. One thing i am starting to think its normally in second gear. (this worries me!) Oh one more thing! Could adjusting the Clutch cable help, i needed to do it anyway as there was loads of free play on the clutch leaver anyway when i tightened it up the rattle improved, odd! Cheers Martiniman

Rattle
Hi all, i have a slight rattle at certain speeds coming from the front of the bike. At first i put it down to my L plate rattling on the bracket but now i doubt it is. It seems to stop when you pull the clutch in. But i still have a hunch it comes from some kind of vibration as its not there all the time only at certain speeds. Any idea of anything i could check before resorting to a garage. Cheers

Virago xv535
yeah probably as the 250 xvs engine is a blown up xvs 125 engine

Virago xv535
Am i right in thinking that every xv535 is shaft driven? For that matter am i right in thinking that the xvs650's are all shaft driven as well?

Carbs
Been reading in the manuel about adjusting carbs, they say it should be done by a dealer. Is it a job for an expert or could it be attempted by a newbie?

Battery
Na just the ignition, i had just serviced the bike, changed the oil i was on my way out for a run the bike had been standing and noticed that the oil was just a little over the top fill mark, so by the time i got a socket and drained a little oil out and went back in the house for my lid, the battery was dead.

Battery
Hi all, this is prob a FAQ and already been discussed in depth. As i have said i am new to biking, i flattened my battery yesterday (on my xvs 125) I only left the head light on for about 20 mins, anyway i read up a bit on the net about jumping/ charging batteries i decided to phone the RAC out as i read so much about how if its a gel battery i would damage it by jumping it, and that you need special chargers for bikes etc bla bla bla. So anyway the RAC bloke came and just jumped it off his van no probs! Lesson learned for next time. So my first question, is it normal to flatten a battery after 20 mins? (my mate says it it) Second another mate says i should invest in an oximiser for about £20 he also said it will condition the battery when the bikes parked up without one ya battery will need replacing every year. does this sound about right? Third it looks like the battery on my bike is fairly deep inside the frame, is it a big job changing it? Cheers Martiniman

Oil
Doesnt give a brand, just says Recommended engine oil grade: API service SE, SF, SG type or higher. Just wondered what people thought was the best. Also is it worth paying extra for performance spark plugs? cheers Martiniman
