i saw on ebay few months ago a guy who does a pack of all the screws nuts etc u need for about 30quid for the dt just have a mooch about. i just had a look but could'nt find but sure they will pop up

did the old straightening against wall thing and think its worked. tried tightening everything up after and well nothing cud be much tigther :/ thanks though

thanks for reply vez yeh ill try that then tighten everything up after i guess? its not far out just enough to be annoying. but the bolt in the middle can be loosed to move them if needs be? or is it the bolts on each fork. thanks

heya Horse pulled my bike over yesterday and now its about 1/4" pulling to the right, whats the best way of straightening my front wheel up again. i had a quick look and there is a massive bolt type thing in the middle do i just loosen that up and get them straight and tighten up again? thanks Paul seems to really have done the trick. My bike still needs a good service and cleanup lots of little problems like really stiff clutch cable etc (( but thanks again im very happy

i remember there being holes in the air box when i looked at it few weeks ago maybe covering these up would help? think its some bodged attempt at getting more performance from previous owner perhaps.

hi guys been running my 2001 dt in past few weeks passed the 100miles(only go to girlfriends really ) mark this weekend new rider<< just a few questions and help would really be appreciated as i have a problems. Dont know if im being stupid or the bike is a bit knackered. first problem is when i come to traffic lights i cant find neutral. mate of mine said i should be able to but it definitely wont go in to neutral. Someone said the clutch cud be broken (not cable) but i have no idea as i know nothing about bikes. second problem when i got the bike it has a bodge job of a air filter on it. mate fitted a standard air filter to it and it ran fine. but when i get to lights and stop firstly i have to stay in first with hand on clutch. and if i dont keep the revs up it tends to cut out. im thinking it cud be to do with air intake perhaps? or the tick over is broken running rich or low anyway im not so good at explaining but will follow this topic and if anyone can help id be so happy especially if anyone is kind enough to take the time to explain to me what i should check and how to do it myself. guy i bought bike off bodged a k and n air filter on that has proceeded to fall off. i priced up a standard system for 100quid or i cud get a cone shaped filter and attatch it straight on for less than 15quid. Any ideas or tips on whats best. Im wary of usuing a custom filter as it was sucking so much air in it would lose power and stall. Thanks x

will be on road 90% of the time but gf has some fields so was planning on ripping round them when she goes to do her horses, which is everyday so ill probably offroad it once to three times a week i guess. thanks for help so far <3

eeeek what shall i do then im pretty sure the oil there now has a red/pinkish tint so this is full synthetic? the guy i brought it off didnt know.

u reckon just get some castrol r then? i do want it to run as smooth as pos and can i just put this in with the bit of current oil left? thanks

hi paul thanks for welcome . ye the oil light is lit when its in neutral and it does sit in idle at about 1000rpm while choke is on. to be honest i think its just in need of a good ride. i bought it from a dealer and he said any problems just take it back seemed like a nice guy and as i previously said it has just passed MOT and starts first time. im just a bit eager to get riding i think! just wondered what advice i could get about the oil thanks i.e what i should put in it and it has a bit of synthetic in it left but only about 2 inches left. thanks! i dont have owners manual, need to pick a haynes up or something i guess

that looks in amazing condition for a 2003. i just paid 950 for a 2001 and it really is dirty and needs a good clean up and service. wow!

Hi im new to this forum, just picked my first bike up the other day. Doing my cbt this week so will be riding by the weekend . Anyway i have a 2001 dtr and could do with advice. i have never ridden before and know nothing about the bike so any tips on it would be helpful. I notice when i turn the bike on and start it the exhaust has white smoke coming out. i havent had a chance to ride it yet so unsure if it just needs a good ride or its running rich. it did only pass its MOT on saturday but i know this doesnt mean it is fine. Thanks Sam! p.s as far as oil goes i have no idea whats in it at the moment so was going to pick some more up tomorrow. Can i just put it in or should i drain whats left (i dont know how to do this, but my gf's dad could do it).
