fitting a universal rear brake light switch
there is nothing straight forward on my bike most if it was bodged when i bought it, its been converted to rear disc instead of the standard drum brake i m pretty sure there is no loom around the brake pedal to plug the switch into hence there was no switch fitted to the bike when i bought it i am concerned about mounting the spring to be honest dont want to mount it wrong an break it along with the air box assembly being held on with cable ties an incorrect reak itthrottle cable that made the engine do random things

fitting a universal rear brake light switch
thanks rocky can you post a pic of how the spring fits to the brake pedal i assume the wires on the other end go to the rear light so so i ll solder them to the existing wiring

air box removal
from what you said above what about fitting a hypercharger with the xvs air filter element inside i ve fitted one to mine but the vacum isnt strong enough to open the flaps so i need to think of something it makes an evil crackle at high revs though

air box removal
can you put some pics up to show the air box an how it mounts to the frame etc my xvs ran without filter (nt very good until warm) can you not mount a cone filter directly to the carb like this Uploaded with ImageShack.us ( i expect this would be crap in winter due to carb iceing) you could cut off the part of the cbr air box that mounts to the filter bolt it to the filter then use sections on f the cbr /xvs air boxes to make a mock up one that fits then either recreat it in fibre glass or fabricate one out of sheet metal similar to this Uploaded with ImageShack.us

repositioning frame number on xvs
i bought my xvs as a unfinshed project it came with log book that was registered to the previous owner who i bought it off the frame has been resprayed an there is no frame number i can only assume that instead of the number being stamped into the frame its on a sticker like this ? Uploaded with ImageShack.us ( click pic to enlarge an look below the white sticker the bike has been hpi checked an is clear i ve had a plate made with the frame number on what i want to know is does the number have to be a certain size font an should i mount the plate in the orignal place or somewhere different i ve removed the paint from the area where the number is found an there are no signs of it being tampered with but if i stick the plate in the origanl place its possible people may think i am hiding something 9(i am not though pics of the removed paint will be up soon)
