yamaha dt 125 sm 2007 starter motor
I'm thinking that the shaft is there for a kickstart, just no kick start lever? if so look out for a kickstart on ebay,I know the xt models fit on them too as I took mine off my XT for a lads DT till he bought a second hand one, AND £600 for a starter motor? thats with fitting I presume some bodies having a laugh there, look in thompson or yellow pages local to you, and search for alternator reconditioning, usually for cars, take your starter there for a quote to be fixed/reconditioned, or hold out for a cheapo on ebay, ball park around £40-50 quid. You could more than likely fit it yourself saving about £30 odd pounds a garage would charge, but a workshop manual is the first thing you'll need to start with. My DT is the earlier dtr model with just the kickstart btw, unlike your dt125re with starter

yamaha dt 125 sm 2007 starter motor
What exactly is wrong with the starter motor Rachael?if totally tatered then look on ebay, or hope someone on the forum reads your plight and may come forward with a cheapo one, other than that, the only suggestion is try bump starting it,till you can sort out a starter motor that is, and I hope you don't live in Norfolk

Engine paint , Black,
nooo, I mean balancing, as in the wheel running true, my mate used to do it professionally back up in Derby, and he had what can be best described as a 'spinning wheel' to respoke his wheels.

My 1992 YAMAHA DT125R PROJECT
Cheers weimieman, Again if you've ordered it, then it's too late, but for a gloss black high temp paint, I use the plasti-cote BBQ spray, you can get it from Wilkinsons or the odd Homebase as old stock,oh and ebay, looks much better than the matt black/grey paint most exhaust sprays are, in my opinion anyroad Good luck with renovating your exhaust too.

I'm Giving It A Go!!!
Probably too late now, seeing as how you've ordered the decals, but I'm sure there's someone in here can get the original ones. I know what you mean about the colour blindness, they tell me I'm colour blind on reds and greens, only time it ever affects me mind, is when I play snooker,(red and brown looks very similar on the green baise) but then again Marstons Pedigree also has the same effect.

Engine paint , Black,
Aye, tis a cracking job ya done there Blackie.BTW how easy/hard was it to respoke your wheel? balancing etc?

DT125R Hyper acceleration!
Dean keep your eye out for a 3wire servo, not a 5 wire, with cables and pulley, plus cable casing on ebay, they do pop up now and again, but make sure you get the 3 wire, as a 5 wire servo, will deffo not work. The servo mounting is already there on your bike, just underneath the coil, you plug in the black / yellow from the CDI into the black / yellow wire on the servo, and the 2 wire female block connector (one brown, one black wire)that should be floating around somewhere near your coil, that's doing nowt, that connects to the male bullet connectors on the servo, you'll need to play about with the cable and pulley slackness, but it's not too difficult. Ball park price for the set up around £80 ish, but just getting the 3 wire servo motor is a start, then work from there. Hope this helps

Last night my 03 R1 flashed its high beams every few minutes...
Just read in your other thread, the bastards!!!! The fact that so many were stolen, I take it there was a few? They are either in a container somewhere, getting ready to ship abroad abroad, or there's a dodgy bikebreakers in the vicinity no doubt paying a pittance,to a gang of thieving bastards, then breaking them down for Ebay. I hope your not off the road too long, and talking of thieving bastards, the insurance company pays you the proper whack for your bike.

part exchange ya or nah
Well yeah, if the deals as good as done, but I'll throw 2 more equations onto the table, incase it isn't, first being the Peugeot Speedfight 100 liquid cooled, and second the Aprilia SR125 di-tech, also liquid cooled, both good scooters, more scope to play about with the Aprilia, modding wise, the Speedfight maybe a Malossi 120 kit, primary and secondary gearing up kits, bigger 21mm carb, both easy to get parts for, and with the liquid cooled aspect, you can travel that bit further with them. My ten penneth anyroad.

Hein Gericke, paging Hein Gericke
Hein Gericke you say? cheers for the heads up lads, I was thinking of forking out a couple of hundred quid myself on some new clothing, if that's the kind of customer service you get from Hein Gericke, I shall to avoid Hein Gericke like the plague,

My new steed TTR600RE
From what I can see of it, your headlight cowling looks very much like my xt600e one. Maybe get one from Philippe in Portugal, 'filed7071' on ebay

Ahoy! Nice to meet you
Hi and welcome to the forum Pixie, if I were you I'd try any bike fault questions in the workshop section, you'll get a bigger chance of an answer in there, personally on what you've put in here I'd say it's a tad vague, I mean, do you get ignition lights coming on? horn work? clicking noise from relay? have you tried bump starting it? the more info about the fault,or better still what you've tried to do to rectify it, the easier it is to diagnose, it'll get sorted there's some clever buggers on here

82 XT125 cutting out over 1/2 throttle
I know you say you've cleaned it with carb cleaner and compressed air, but like OG asked, can you actually see daylight through the jet so to speak, I only ask because one of my lads mates came round yesterday and his main jet was blocked,(spluttered at top end)so I got him to clean it within an inch of it's life with carb cleaner, it was only after I reamed it with a wooden backed wire brish single wire, and then fed fishing line through it,ran the jet up and down on that, that I could see a full circle of daylight through it, as before it was like a partial eclipse inside, if ya get me.

dtr engine out
It's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question that one jony, depends on what bolts are seized, mainly, and what you have to do to get them off, mate, my main problem wasn't just a couple of the main engine mounting bolts being seized, luckily I have a cordless impact gun, impact driver to get them out, but the swingarm spindle that goes through the back of the engine also being absolutely seized up solid, to the point where I had to cut the swingarm off with an ultra thin cutting disc,on a 4" grinderette, either side of the engine at the back, . I reckon 'ball park',start to finish, would take a good afternoon, but on a bike thats been maintained and the bolts nicely greased up previously, poss 2 hours. One thing I do reccomend you do firstly though is document/take pics of which bolts came from where, label all wires somehow, I coded mine with small black or white cable ties(stay on better in parafin bath) Presumably you have a manual to help you too? for torque settings etc? Hope this helps somewhat, have a butchers on my project thread see if that's some use too.

where to find VIN number?
Nice one, it's not the end of the world if they don't match, mind, but if they do, at least you are in the knowledge that its the original engine.
