more likely the field windings. Remove the brush block and measure between the 2 copper tracks. Less then 4.5 ohms bad so is no reading.

bi-colour LED
Ta-Dah! you won't need capacitors, just a voltage limiting resistor as per the diagram I'm sure you could use a simple BC547C series transistor in place of a relay. Not tried it, but these are very cheap and easily available.

Stolen/Recovered R1 07 needs ignition
If the keys are the sort with chips in them, you're looking at main dealer parts only which will have to be programmed to match the ecu. Don't buy these parts off ebay as you'll never get them to work, the equipment needed to match locks and keys to the ecu simply isnt available.

I'll draw you a picture to show how you could get this to work when I get 5 mins

bi-colour LED
I was going to say..... I'd work out a resistor for 14.7 volts and place it between the centre connection (2) and earth. Then connect the feed from the hi beam to one side and from the neutral the other...... The big flaw in that is that the hi beam works when a voltage is applied - the neutral works when you apply an earth to a live feed.......... Which means you'd only ever see a hi beam indication if you were in neutral. So unless you used a relay where the bikes neutral circuit operated the relay control coil that switched a live feed on to the LED when in neutral, it ain't going to work. The other thing is don't these show 3 colours? 1 for each side of the diode and the combined colour when both sides are powered?

78 250 CDI ignition
The DT250F is different its the F8T800 box. This is our part number DT5 We don't have stock at present, lead time is approx 2 weeks. I've been building a comprehensive data base for these bikes. I've started work on it you can see how far I've got on my website (link below). I'm about 50% there with the IT/DT/YZ/MX machines 73-82.

78 250 CDI ignition
That should be no problem running just the cdi with no lights, just leave the plugs from the generator that don't connect to the CDi un connected. Yes we accept pay pal, you can also use a normal credit/debit card at the check out. If you e-mail [email protected] we can send a money request.

78 250 CDI ignition
We have the 00172 unit -new- for £77.00 plus £8.85 shipping to Canada. Comes with one year warranty. I think that compares well to a second hand item that could be 20 years (plus) old.

1989 Wiring Loom?
I can't help with such a late model, if it were a 70/80s model we have a range of new wiring looms. £100 for oem seems cheap, price up the cable, sleeving and connectors you'd need to build your own!

hello from Queensland Australia
Hi There I'm guessing the floods have abated! I've been round northern europe, Down as far as Bologna Italy, mainly on my Triumph Daytona, but the XS650 has had several trips out to France Germany and The Netherlands. I spend two weeks out on the road going to Italy, not much really but you get a sense of being separate from the rest of society as they run around in there little tin boxes. France was good, I stayed away from the main routes and found some fantastic roads - wide, open no traffic, I went 20 miles and saw only 3 or 4 cars at one point. Italy was hell as it August and stinking hot, it was 42C one day, 29 at night. Despite what most people think about Italian drivers I found they looked out for bikes and took more care around them, I guess so many people have scooters there they are used to looking for them. I stupidly decided to make some time and headed for the autostarda, only to get stuck in 5 mile jam. A very heavily loaded bike in the sun, full leathers and trapped by queues of fume belching trucks was hell. I was cooked and muscles shaking as I fought my way through it all. When I stopped for fuel people were looking at me, with my helmet of my face was black across my eyes and the sweat was making all the dirt run. happy times!

Halogen Headlights
the best way to improve the lighting would be to mody the wiring to use relays to control the on/off and hi/lo functions..........google it I'm not going into all lol.

ex-up valve warning
I take it with the short pipe you still have the exup valve fitted and connected? The rev counter going blank shows that there is a system fault; could be because the ecu lost contact with the exup valve. maybe a loose connection?

DT360 DT400 1975-78 Generator/ignition
Hi I'm trying to find if the ignition pick up on the DT360 is the same item as the DT400. A similar generator was also fitted to the YZ400 but the ignition is different, they may have used the same pick-up though. . If anyone can post nice clear pictures of the CDI 1977-8 DT 400 (also 250) generator or can say for sure if the ignition pick up is the same - I'd be grateful
