Hello everyone, have been very quiet, but still reading posts. But now i need some advice. I had my bike (xvs 650) painted a short while ago, and now i seem to have a leak on the fuel selector valve. Difficult to pinpoint exactly where. Strangely the stuff leaking looks more like oil (a bit yellowish) than fuel. smells like fuel though, and i cannot imagine it being something else. I removed the valve (thats what i think its called) with the 2 screws, and later just put it back. Was i suppose to change any seals or so? thx Peter
  3. just be carefull with that german site. They sell the lowering kit for the dragstar 650 at 179 euro..... You can get it anywhere for less then 40. Makes you wonder... Peter

do you still have the original front wheel on it? Wheel size influences the speedometer. A smaller front wheel will cause the speedo to indicate more than your actual speed, and vice versa. peter

hello guys, i'm abandoning the idea of using parts of the original exhaust, and getting the idea of making it new front to end. Buying pipe and bending it (with a hydraulic bender) the way i want. But how do i make the connection to the cylinder? Can i buy a standard connecting piece and weld my pipe to that, or how would i go about that? thx Peter

holes were pre-drilled when i bought the handle bar, so no problem there. Needed to extend the wires though, which is a bit of work. Plus the bike is always in the garage, next to heating

here's what i did with mine. For my feel, it is very comfortable. My back is not 100% (thanks to a nice horse !@@#$$#), but i did a tour of several hours last week, and still feel ok. What you need to consider is the routing of your throttle and clutch cable, and electrical cables. I put all of my wires inside the handlebar. And i used risers. If you just put the new handlebar on the existing mount, i could be that you lean to far forward.

Oh shit, so the connecting pipe really connects the 2 exhausts? I thought it was only for rigidity or so... pfff...there goes a nice plan i guess. thanks Peter

yep. i'm screwed...only the last one comes off.... But if i cut the interconnecting tube, front one should come off also. i'm thinking of a system where i can still revert back to the original mufflers. If it ever gets to be more than an idea, i'll post a picture. And, ...i started her up without the last muffler very nice!!, but not for the neighbors.

I'll have to look then if i'm lucky that the 2 are not connected....or else it will be a bigger job than i expected...sht thanks guys Peter

thanks guys. I was planning to just take the end part off (i think that's called the mufflerr?). doesn't it come of without cutting? thank you Peter

Hello all, again looking for some advice from the pro's... I've taken up the idea to remove the mufflers from my exhaust, and make a set of new ones myself. Just a straight pipe, pointing a bit upwards... Now i'm looking for baffles which would give me a nice deep sound, not too loud...(but still loud enough ) any advice? thank you Peter
  22. hello, risers are highway hawk, 4" high. I first got the 6" one's, but they were too high (bit better comfort, but didn't look nice to me). The mirrors are "Scythe" from Kuryakin.I got them in the local harley shop,so needed a converter to metric. They do tend to vibrate when i go over 80 kph...but probably that's normal. The handlebar i don't know what brand...just bought it at "Louis" shop in Germany. Peter
  23. thanks, yes, i'm happy with the way it looks. without the raisers, it felt somewhat uncomfortable for me(needed to lean forward too much). Peter
  24. ahaaa, that's why i see pictures from other people in the post.. yeah, throttle cables need to be changed. They have enough play, but i want the metal braided type,to match the brake line, as well as vance & hines pipes, other air filter, dual headlights, forward controls....better stop here. Peter
