  1. OK, simple question (I hope): Will an '87 FZR 1000 Genesis 18" rear wheel fit my '87 FZ 750, also with an 18" rear? It's just that bit wider, and there's a cheap one on you-know-where...

  3. Folks, sorry if this is inappropriate, but: Screw eBay! www.bikesforbikers.co.uk is now open for business! Like most of you probably, we (me & 2 mates) were getting pissed off with eBay's monopoly. SOOOOO…. My mate had the brilliant idea of starting our own auction site, exclusively for bikes & bike parts. We’ve spent the last few days setting it all up, and it’s live NOW. It’s “under development”, and also remember that we don’t have eb*y’s coffers, so it’s a simple set up, so it’s not as slick, but it does everything we think we need!
  4. Brakes are fine, mate... I always manage to stop on their face!
  5. I must admit, the search DOES suck somewhat... Either that, or there are 0 posts about FZ 750's on the forum...
  6. If you have a battery in there that's too weak to turn the engine over, you would get what you describe - maybe one wheezy crank, then nothing? I'd try jumpstarting her off another bike/car? If she starts off that, I'd get a battery that's built for her! http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Yamaha/XS_850/80-86/picture/Battery_Kyoto_Gel_-_Maintenance_Free/ Try that... Not a bad price, and it'll come fully charged, ready to rock 'n' roll...
  7. I tend to run into you lot at work... But still outside of Glossop!
  8. Cheers, Paul... BTW, I seem to keep running into people from Glossop lately... 3 in the past 3 months... Glossop isn't that big!
  9. PS, more pics here: http://www.skoop-tech.co.uk/pics/fz and a youtube vid: Drewpy, oldgitonabike, how do I sign up for a full paid membership? The subscriptions link doesn't link me to Paypal...
  10. Howdy folks. Just joined the club... And I have a few questions... I just got my hands on a nice FZ 750. I'm wondering; how does one upgrade the running gear on these easily? Are there any fatter rear wheels, shocks, forks etc. that fit with few or no mods? It's an '89 model, with the 3 spoke wheels. Here's pics: http://www.skoop-tech.co.uk/pics/fz Also, I'vce noticed that (especially with a cold engine) the gearbox is a right b!tch. Can barely get her from 1st to 2nd, etcetera, until she's properly warmed up. And even then, she's a wee bit clunky. She prefers shifting on slightly elevated revs, so not at fully closed throttle? PO said she needed an oil change, and that'd improve it? I'm thinking, maybe the clutch needs some attention? As the clutch seems to "grab" VERY close to the bars... About half an inch from the bar, and awaaaaay we go...
  11. What size is the rim? 130 SHOULD be ok, as long as you don't go much wider, because that'll distort the shape of the tyre, not to mention "squeeze" it, so when you lean it over, it might be pushed to the side. Too wide on narrow rim = ouch. BUT, then again, Yamaha designed that bike with that rim, and that size tyre... And they DO know what they're doing!!
  12. Nope... But here's one: www.fzx-fazer.com I own thattun...
  13. Thanks for the welcome, guys... Glad you like Bob the Breaker... Now, does ANYBODY actually know anything about FZ's here???!!!???
