  1. Hello again OG..Thanks for this. One of my friends is also restoring a DTMX. He has just found and fitted some vee rubber tyres and they are a really good match. The only issue is that th rear must be a 4.00 instead of a 3.5. Think I will follow this route as they look top. He sourced them from the Motorcycle parts centre in reading 527 Oxford Road Reading, Berkshire, RG30 1HJ 0118 959 4341. Give me a nod if you would like to see a pic. cheers n
  2. Nearly finised my DT 175XM and am trying fo find some new original looking tyres. Its easy to adopt alternative 'paw print'but ideally I'm looking for the square pattern in 2.75x21 front and 3.5x18. Have ben searching for some time but the size and pattern keps turning up zip. (Tried V Rubber -close but wrong size and stopped making them) assistance, ideas very welcome. Tks
  3. 140 fitted all working perfectly .....Excellent thanks again
  4. Thanks Old git Blocked pipe and road tested once again. Seems a little faster but began to pink after 5 miles or so when hot so I backet off in an attempt not to hole the piston. I pulled the choke out when pinking and the noise went away which suggests a lean issue. Took the main jet out and it is marked with 10C ? (the C could be a poorly stamped 0?) Have ordered a 130 and a 140 and will not ride 'til fitted. Ta again
  5. Having a little problem with the restored '79 DT175MX. With new bore/piston/rings the bike starts and runs very well until it gets warm after say 10 miles or so. At this point if you put the bike under load at speed at say 4000 RPM it sounds as though it is blowing from the head or pinking? once the bike cools down its back to 100% OK. I have had the top end off and all things seem fine (Gaskets, rings, torqued heads, standard factory exhaust, etc), Carb is not blocked. I am running the bike without the autolube at 25:1 mix with quality semi synthetic 2T oil.. Is it running lean and perhaps needs rejetting without the autolube? DO I need to block the autolube pipe? Any other ideas and direction? Tks.

Hello Just nearing completion of the DT175mx project and having great difficulty in sourcing a decent seat foam. (or entire seat) I have tried to make one but the fact that the originals are moulded is the very thing that forms the original look and shape of the seat. Amyone got a spare foam or make recommendation on where to get one? Cheers Nick

Thanks Paul.. the engine casing is already apart and there is no access internally to the spiggots as the nipples that receive the oil cables are hidden within the internal castings of the casing. I simply cant see how you replace the internal oil lines without removing the spiggots. you cant get in there to either remove the oil pipes or put new ones on? nick

Help Please... Just rebuilding my DT engine and the oil pipes going to and from the autolube pump are holed and need replacement. These plastic pipes go through the engine case and use two metal 'male to male' connectors to pass through the case before connecting on to the oil tank and carb. I need to remove these two connectors which that are inserted into the engine case to do the job properly...Anyone now how to get them out? I really dont want to mix the oil with each tank of petrol!! Ta Nick
  11. Greetings, some help please.. Just in the process of a complete rebuild of a '79 DT 175MX and building up the courage to respoke the wheels myself as the rims are pitted beyond repair. I have found some good advice on the process but need to know where I can source new Patern rims from? Any wizard tips also welcomed Thanks Nick
