  1. Air compressor the sucker, it will expand the rubber sliding it right off or on. No chemicals needed. Riding dirty and rusting.
  2. Lemon juice is bad, rust is oxidation, lemon juice is acidic and will cause oxidation. Other fun things metal's do not like salt's, acids, bases (coke, and diet coke great for cleaning battery terminals) , sudden stops, and of course water. The sand paper rust inhibiting primer and some paint of you color choice work and well if you make sure all the rust is gone. but to get a nice smooth surface you have to sand a lot. Or the easy way, just find a replacement piece with no rust. Aluminum is none ferrous a magnet will not stick to it. As far as I know the engine and the brake calipers are aluminum. All chrome that I have ever seen is on steel and steel is ferrous so the magnet will stick to it. There is some really highly polished aluminum out there but just check it with a magnet. This science lesson was brought to you by the letter B, for bored at work.
  3. I tried searching for the coating in the form, and either I missed it or I just suck. I will take either. What can I do to clean the engine and the transmission up if the original coating is gone?

  6. I have heard, and read that these bikes have electrical issues. What I am looking for is anything any one has done to lessen these problems. As of right now I have found nothing wrong with the electrical systems, and would like to keep them working. I have seen replacing the fuse box with a modern one's that uses ato fuses. Is there any other mods to the electrical that help? Thanks, pez in ak

So the 650's calipers are out of the question then? Because they look the same, and mike's xs has them.
