  1. Nah, I rev the tits off it all the time. It seemed to get worse after I went up 2 sizes on the main jet. I leaned it out on the needle at the same time but now I am thinking that maybe I need to fool with the air screw it get it running right at idle.
  2. The chain and sprockets are all good. This vibration has no relation to road speed, only engine speed. It is when the engine is labouring... could it be piston slap? Maybe I have been out of two strokes for too long and this is how they sound under load at low revs?

Hi I have a 2001 dt230 which only has about 6000km on the clock, I bought it two months ago. It has had a strange vibration/rattle when you accelerate under load from low revs. As soon as the Revs build up it goes away but while its there it is very pronounced, almost like the plastic ducts leading to the radiator are shaking and slapping in the wind. Any thoughts?
  4. Hi Doing up a dt175, The engine I had planned on using looks like it has been full of water for 20 years. Lots of surface rust, havn't split the case yet but it looks pretty nasty, the crank won't rotate. Are engines in this kind of condition worth bothering with? Would it be better to get another worn out engine and use that? I guess what I am asking is does the corrosion present as a big issue or would any machining I need to get likely resolve the rust issue at the same time?
  5. Cool, cheers guys
  6. Thanks guys, yeah the pipe has had it, I would like something a little unique, where the pipe bolts onto the engine there is only a little rust, maybe see if I can find an MX pipe and mod it to fit. I saw one guy on here did it with a cr125 pipe and got a good result.

Hi I am rebuilding a 81 DT175, I may need to buy a new barrel, is there differences between the years? Someone told me the had a longer stroke and therefore a different barrel at some point. Also if they are different are the heads interchangable? Thanks
  8. Hi all I am doing up an old DT175, went to clean the rust off the pipe and it is rusted right through. I am doing this rebuild on a minimal budget, do you think if I wrapped the pipe in ceramic exhaust tape like this http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JDM-Performance-Ceramic-exhaust-tape-11-meter-roll_W0QQitemZ200406739568QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2ea92c2a70#ht_1112wt_941 or some other kind of tape it would hold together? Would it stick to the rusty surface? Thanks

Hi I have a 2001 DT230 complete with stupid traction control and rev limiter. I was thinking that maybe a cdi from an early dt200r or wr200 might be a way to get around this. Any thoughts? Thanks
  10. Hi all Just bought myself a very nice DT230 in immaculate condition and now I want to mod the hell out of it. There is so little info on the net aout these bikes but the impression I am getting is that they are a dt125 with a bigger engine. Anyway, it seems like it has been strangled near to death to meet emmitions reqirements. I don't even think it is work modding the carby, I think I should find one of another bike and adapt it to fit. I don't know much about how the powervale works, it is electronic I know that much but is there any vaceum sensors or electronic sensors from the carby that is likely to mess with my plan? Any advice would be great, thanks

Hi I am rebuilding a 79 dt175 and I am looking at putting decals that are meant for a dt125 on the tank. Is there much difference in tank size between the two? I am thinking I may have to get them resized. Thanks
