Advise.... Some 4 wheeler will look right at you but pull out in front of you anyway... On two wheels you have wrapped an invisibility cloak about yourself and, be ready, someone will put a ton of steel in your path...

I lock up the rear tire to add the squealing of rubber to the blare of the horn... Morons’ll get somebody killed right outside their driver’s side window….

  4. You need to know what system isn't working. Is it fuel or spark? An inductive timing light or some other way of monitoring the spark will show the if the fire quits working after the few seconds, if the troubles electrical, or you might try to keep it running with a spray can of ether (starting fluid) letting you know it’s not getting fuel…. Once you know that you’re on your way to fixing a problem… It should run on a weak battery but a sound charging system Are you trying the start with the starter button? If that’s the case the battery’s OK, Does the “prime” position on the petcock free flow? (And does it run OK in prime?) System first.. Elect.or Fuel.. Find the problem then fix it… Good luck…

Folks @ Blue shield wouldn't pay for either citing something about existing conditions, lack of motorcycle consistency and political posturing in inappropriate places... But... 50% improvement is still improvement. :

I'm just going into a 78 XS400 for the starter clutch.... The Haynes' pretty slim on procedures and IDing things. WHat's the thing that looks like a tapet adjuster under the rubber plug on the left side chain cover... Looks like that has to come free before the chain cover, then the alt. cover can come off....
