1975 dt 175B carburator floats
The air screw which turns with a screwdriver should be 1.5 to 1.75 turns out. Screw it in all the way then back it out 1 and a half turns to start. The hand adjuster on the side of the carb with the spring can be screwed in all the way to start, and it will idle high to begin with once it is started, then back the hand screw out as the bike warms up to reduce the idle speed. I wouldn't bend the pins that the floats slide up and down on to adjust the levels in the carb, I've never heard of doing that. Just make sure that the pins are squeaky clean and that the floats move easially up and down on those pins. If your carb is clean, and assembled correctly it should fire and run ok. the needle and seat has a spring which interacts with the floats to control the gas level in your carb. By the way, if those float pins are bent I suspect that could be your whole problem, they should be arrow straight vertical. Kevin

1991 YZ 250 purchase?
Guess I'll pass on this one. They only want $800 now, but I'm being advised that a 1997 CR 250 is a better bet for $1700.

1991 YZ 250 purchase?
I've found a 91 YZ 250 in good shape, rebuilt and runs good for $1000 Canadian. Price aside, does anyone own a similar bike, and have positive or negative feedback about this year/model? Are the Suzuki's, Kawi's, or Honda's a better bet in the early 90's? I am an intermediate rider who is looking to improve but not race. I ride a lot of trails, and thought I might try a trip around the local motocross track. I currently ride a 77 DT 250, when it's running, and a 77 DT 175.

1977 DT 250 Pulser Coil
Nice looking new part. Thanks for the info. I will contact them. Ps. I discovered a factory Yamaha Pulser coil for a 175 advertised on the net, while I was searching for the 250 coil. You may want it as a spare. Just search pulser coil 77 dt175 and is should come up on your search. Good idea on taking pictures of the part!

1977 DT 250 Pulser Coil
Has anyone found a source for these problematic coils? Has anyone replaced one of these? Can the coils be rewound or repaired if I can't find a used one?

1975 dt 175b points & condenser
I'm having a similar problem, but mine is a 77 DT 250 without points. Let me know how you make out. I've not the time or tools to troubleshoot the bike, it's a full time job, so will let you know what my bike tech comes up with on mine. So far we expect it's the source coil. Currently it's unavailable from Yamaha, so I'll be improvising something no doubt.
