    I know it's been 2 years, but since nobody answered, I'll give it a shot. The VIN number will give you a good indication of the year. Each year they start over with 101 being the first number used, so if you number is low, it is probably an 80, but if it's a high number, then it's probably a 79. You'll need two types of oil. You'll need a 2-stroke oil to put in the oil tank and a 4-stroke oil for the transmission.
