  1. The Ignition switch has just two seperate switches. When switched to on the battery positive (red) connects to the brown wires in the loom to power the indicators and stop lights. When in the off position the red /black wire from the CDI unit is taken to earth the kill the engine. It's basic in the extreme. Hope this helps. That is why a physical security device is adviseable on these old bikes. Doug.
  2. I think that it is inherent in the design of the leading link suspension. On hard braking the front of the bike rises and then drops again as it comes to a stop. There is nothing sophisticated in the spring units and I don't think that there is any damping so as long as there is no static play in the parts it's as good as it ever was or is likely to be.
