  1. Damn, just placed order with yambits. Is it an engine strip job for rhs? It runs ok, maybe a bit Smokey, was running gear specific oil not engine oil though.
  2. Forgot to add, it only seems to leak when not running but warm. And having removed seal, its not a lip seal, its got a spring either side, which worrys me into thinking that some where inside is a lip seal where there should be a double seal? Eeek.
  3. Aah. Now im confused. Just had flywheel off, and it looks alot like the gearbox oil has been coming out of the crank seal. ie oil behind flywheel, and this area is pretty well secluded from the sprocket and gearchange because of the shape of the casting. Could the inner seal have gone too ?
  4. I have gearbox oil leaking from behind the flywheel I think? I cant be sure untl I get the flywheel off. Can this happen or is it more likely the sprocket seal or clutch? If it is the crank seal, how do I fix it?? I have heard it can be done in situ, but I have no idea how, any help much appreciated. Ed
  5. I have some pegs that may fit, I bought in error a while ago. If youre in no rush I can dig them out at the weekend and email pics.
  6. Ac10 is what o have on my 250, I like them off road, less so on road, but they are far better than some. I have a 3.50 continental twinduro on my dt, and is really the best compromise tyre. Similar to a deathwing, but better off and on road.
  7. I meant ktm two strokes vs Yamaha 4stroke. i agree ktm 4 strokes are dear to maintain. But any competition motor will be. i like the simplicity and less moving parts of a two stroke. plus there more fun and easier to ride hard.
  8. I like the idea of a two stroke greenlaner. I.find them more fun. Easier to work on, and less expensive parts to go wrong. Ok. I admit. I love two smoke.
  9. Ktm service schedules are more regular than yam, and need rebuilds more often. While the bits maybe marginally cheaper, you need them more often. I know of bikes of similar ages, similar use and by the book maintenance, and the lads that moan the most about cost are the ones in orange. I just wish yamaha still made a decent road legal two stroke.
  10. Plus one on the WR/DT 200. However if I had more money than sense id blow it on a dt230 lanza. Proper modern suspension, good power, and electronic traction control that actually works!! Shame a decent one is nearly 3 grand.
  11. Drz e is over 33bhp by quite a bit. Plus they're heavier than a John Deere. My dad has one, he makes it work, but it is very heavy. Ktm will be a more focused machine, but id go for a wr all day over ktm four banger. They need less maintenance, bits are cheaper, and they dont go wrong like the Austrians do. Having said that the next bike I get will be a ktm or gas gas 300 two smoke, cant beat a two stroke for smiles.
  12. Youre right, I know of two people with them and they are both very very impressed. They are the cheapest brand new enduro bike out there, and on paper have all the right ingredients. They both have 450s.
  13. I think the Rieju uses a WR engine not a TTR. As much as i love my TTR i think it would be disapointing in an Enduro, even in a posh frame.
  14. I dont know dimensions but a yz 80 or 125 may be more suitable?
  15. Have you taken your dt off road with some proper knobblies? They're pretty good. If you want more poke for on the road, then fair play. A wr will be alot lot more to insure for a 17 year old though. A quick google should bring up the power of a wr.
  16. Dt125, ttr 250, dt 175mx if you like old school. A wr250 may just be under. In fact there must be loads! Plus I suppose you could restrict any bike? If you like two strokes a dt would be good. If you want cheap reliability, I cant recommend a ttr 250 enough.
  17. It's an outrageous ammount of money. I know im tight, but id want a nice looking RD for that kind of money. Gadgets you can have my DT for £1500 and I promise you it will be more fun. Because you wont mind scratching it :-p
  18. I guess a Ty gear cluster would fit, as the engines are very similar. Can you check the engine and frame numbers match? And if so what prefix? Maybe the dealer was taking it easy and actually the tachometer over reads?
  19. I think I had a 16 on mine last time it was on the road and got an indicated 70mph running a quite tall trials tyre regularly. I am in the process of rebuilding it atm, and have noticed my new sprockets are 15 - 49. I will see what its like. 15 49 should see more than 55 mph, but as airhead said there not quick, nor would you sustain that speed if you cared about your bike.
  20. It's a two stroke. Rev it, then rev it some more. Then rebuild it.
  21. Par for the course un fortunately.
  22. A mate and I were discussing that, unsure of spindle brake, and width measurement. Be nice to just find a rim that laces up with a dt hub.
  23. Yes I have, I.just fancied something different to be honest. Sort of flatracker, sort of supermoto. I'll still have my standard wheels for when.I want to get it dirty. I could have a new rim drilled, but funds wont allow that!
  24. i would like to build an 18 inch front wheel for my DT to use some road tyres I have, and was wondering what rims would fit, I have learned that you cant just chuck any old 36 hole rim on because the angles are different due to hub diameters etc. Does anyone have any ideas?? Cheers Ed
