  1. its a 4 stroke v twin xv 125 engine the exact same one as the virago 125
  2. the sachs iv put a new exhaust and performance air filter on it and i just need to sort out the jetting cause it wont start unless i push it down hill in second gear! and me legs are getting tied but iv now found a new problem the float bowl seems like the previous owner has bent it????!!! so I'm searching for the float bowl dimensions so i can put it back to standard then i can begin jetting it
  3. hi there im trying to rejet my carb but need to know whats the best way to go about it without spending too much cash id like info on how to check the settings for the pilot jet, needle jet and main jet to get the best settings for my bike chears .Paul.
  4. hi there are you like me and cant find a cheep exhaust system or even a FULL exhaust system for your xv 125? well iv found the answer!....make one! i bought the front down pipe that links to the mufflers for £120 @ xv 125 exhaust 30mm inside dia. flexy pipe 40cm long with fixing brackets £30 (p+p included!) (just email him and he will sort you out) ebay flexy pipe 1.5mm thick 10m long graphite exhaust wrap (ebay) exhaust wrap ebay now i found that the rear down pipe on my bike was corroded but the corrosion started about 5 inch from where it links onto the engine. i chopped the pipe about 5 inch down then wrapped 1 layer of exhaust wrap round the top and secured it with s/s ties i then pushed the flexypipe onto the cut header ( its a bit tight but if you twist and push it will go on ) make sure you leave a gap about 2cm from the top then i wrapped the whole pipe with 1 layer of exhaust wrap ( if you start at the top down, then you can slide on the bracket that holds it to the engine) after sliding the bracket to the top of the pipe i secured the exhaust wrap with s/s ties and there is the new header pipe! now because the new pipe is 30mm inside diameter instead of the 26mm it was, iv had to slightly bend the connector in wards ( the bit that pokes out so you can connect the rear header to the rest of the exhaust ) then push the new header on and wrap it with exhaust wrap. then fix the u bend bracket that you get with the flexy pipe onto where it connects and tighten. job done! new exhaust at half the price! just to let you know the exhaust wrap will smoke for about 5 min when you first use it but after that its spot on! hope this helps ppl cheers . Paul.
  5. thats a bit tricky cause it was down to the oil not being chainged but i was told they would do that on the service ....so i never botherd and it was due for a service at the time plus it was about a year ago when it happened so i might have a problem there
  6. yeah soz i got a bit carryed away thinking of my experiance of delerships
  7. id say go up and demand to see the manager! and give him what for!!! a good line to use " is this how you conduct business?" and just tell him you demand compensation for the time and money that has been wasted due to his staff's incompetence!!! and don't be afraid to shout at the top of your voice!
  8. hi iv got a Sachs roadster which uses the xv 125 engine the problem is my exhaust is f****d and the only replacement part i can find is the front header leading to the twin mufflers which means I'm still in need of the rear header/down pipe coming from the rear cylinder. now, iv striped the bike down and the top of the pipe (about 6 inch from where it links to the engine) is sound so i thaught if i cut it, then put on flexy pipe and tack weld it (to replace the cut out section ) then wrap it in exhaust wrap and ties it should be spot on ?? but i need to know if this would pas an M O T cause thats what all this work is for and il be damned if I'm forkin out over £200 !!!! any advice would help . cheers . ps. if you want to look at the flexy pipe its on ebay under " flexy exhaust " .Paul.
  9. you think thats bad! i took my bike inn , waited 4 weeks for them to do 4 hours work and put 8 new parts on then rob me of 600 quid......then 6 days l8r the engine blew! how bad is that! its gonna cost 400 quid to get the part fixed or 600 quid to replace it and thats not including the extras!!! so my advice unless its under warrenty KEEP AWAY from ANY YAMMAHA DEALER !!
  10. iv got the same problem m8 iv looked everywhere for that rear down pipe and haven't found any !! but i did find some flexible exhaust pipe on ebay which would fit but you would need to chop ur old down pipe then fix the flexy pipe to it somehow then wrap it . but there is a place near me that fabricate exhausts its a shop called Izak's they might be able to help : 01773875986 and if they cant help then ur best going to cmc and giving them ur wallet or save for slash cuts. hope this helps m8 .Paul.
  11. hi there I'm Paul and i have a Sachs roadster 125 which uses the xv 125 engine , iv put a new performance air filter and put a bigger main jet on it but my exhaust is practically free flow due to the fist size hole ... if anyone can help I'm in need of some advice. 1. the bike fails to start unless i push it up and down the street in second gear. iv looked at the spark plugs and the mixture is a bit on the lean side could this be why it wont start? iv got a 97.5 main jet in it, and a 102.5 is too big but cant get hold of any that are in between. 2. is the standard exhaust restricted somehow? as iv had a look at mine and there is a lip / over weld on the inside DI of both headers. would it help to grind these out? or just get slash cuts? 3. iv looked everywhere i can think of, and cant find a front sprocket that is NOT the standard size as I'm wanting 1 more tooth any suggestions?? 4. where on earth can i get me hands on a aftermarket rev counter (electric) that will fit? 5. would fabricating an oil pump to fit where the oil filter would go and slapping a radiator on it help? I'm hopefully going to post some pics soon but any help would be much appreciated thanks .Paul.
  12. hello and welcome! and nice bike! i used to have one (a 04 plate black one)..... then the engine blew on me just do me a favour.....check and change your oil on a regular basis and never, NEVER take it to cmc to get repairs! but apart from that hope you have fun if you ever need help just give me a bell. cheers . Paul .
  13. cheers but i cant afford the jetting kit at the mo, and at £1 per jet i cant really grumble but my idea is to give the engine a little more power then fiddle with the sprockets to decrease the revs where did you find the front sprocket? cause i cant find any non standard ones anywhere! and how is your air filter fitted? is it straight on the carb or in your airbox? a new exhaust is on the cards but am having trouble getting hold of the rear cylinder header. .cheers . Paul.
  14. hi there iv got a Sachs roadster which uses the xv 125 engine and have tried to re-jet it about 12 times now!!! i went out and baught a shorty k&n style performance air filter off ebay, and have had to connect it to the airbox instead of on the carb. it originally had a 77.5 main jet and now is running on a 97.5 the bike runs fine but is too on the lean side for my liking, plus i have to run it up and down the street just to get it started! so could you tell me what size jets you used? what air filter you used (if any)? and if you have changed the exhaust at all? cheers. Paul .
