  1. unless your willing to make some from fibreglass then ur out of luck best bet would be to pick up a second hand set from ebay and chop them, then you can make them to the size you want but still have the originals.

    i was never interested in bikes or cars when i was little, i was just interested in taking things apart to see how they worked then tried to put them back together (and failed) . then when i hit 16 i realized how much my mum did my head in (at the time) and cause i lived in the middle of nowhere and had some inheritance money coming when i was 18 i asked my parents for a loan, to get a 50cc ped, just so i could get out of the house for a bit. and its a lot cheaper than getting a car. plus my cool factor at school went up when i turned up on it lol it wasnt till i was 17 that i properly appreciated my bike when it got nicked outside my mates house. after a few weeks of moping about my parents felt sorry for me an decided to give me another loan (plus they wanted to do up the house) so i started searching, and found a nice looking bike that i wanted (xvs125 dragstar) i went for a lesson to learn how to do gears properly then picked up my shiny new dragstar up to this point it was just a form of transport, that gave me the freedom that i needed. till i met a bloke called mike, he was always into bikes since he was 5 and went every ware. so we started goin out for rides and thats when i fell in love with biking! just looking at nice bikes, meeting new people, and getting the bikers nod we used to go to matlock bath on a sunday, then crack a map out and go to random places, like the cat and fiddle, then on a thursday we went to the anchor (used to be a proper bike night on a thursday but isnt anymore ) then when we started going to M.F.N i got interested in the custom scene and thought to myself i want to build my own bike one day. so 6 years, 3 kids and a misses later here i am building my own pride and joy and loving every minute of it!
  3. nah dude only got a provisonal ......been riding for 7 years now lol .... its on my list of things to do but i need to get the misses to pass her car test 1st, then while im at work she can take the kids out to her mums, but as soon as thats done il be putting in for my test and no not manchester.... im closer to chesterfield, derbyshire (about 10min away) lol
  4. you traitor!! just kiddin m8 yeah im puttin exhaust wrap on it as the exhaust is just touching the frame so hopefully that should stop any heat transfer. as to the fenders iv seen loads of different sizes ect, but just wasnt sure.....il find out soon enough. im just hoping i can get it done in time as there is loads to do, but yeah you should come up my way and il take you to round matlock then to M.F.N its a good ride, and there are loads and loads of bikes that turn up, plenty to look at (or should it be plenty to drool at?), on the odd occasion you get a hotrod or 2 or a new viper will show up with his m8 in a lambo lmao also there is a bloke who shows up in his helicopter and a couple of parogliders...... might even manage to enter my bike in the show and shine....(fingers crossed) but then again itl be on L plates

  13. oh iv been meaning to ask.. anyone know the "law" (is there is one) on fenders? like how big they should be to go through an mot ? im gonna make some but want them as small as possible but dont know where i stand.
  14. its getting there slowly but surely! got a nice long checklist to complete but iv set a deadline! march 23rd! (my birthday lol) then il be taking it to M.F.N for its 1st outing on march 28th ready for the summer
  15. here is a link to some drag bars (they do them in different colours)Click me and here are the cheapest risers that will be the right size, so the controlls clear the tank you could get away with 5 inch risers but i couldnt find any as cheep Click me then all you will need is a couple of 3 inch 12mm bolts, a 12mm drill bit, and a couple of big washers with 12mm holes the bore in the bush that hold the original risers are 10mm but all aftermarket ones are 12mm so just drill out the hole, cut the bolts to size then put the washer on b4 the riser to hold it all in place. takes about 30min to do it all im going to post a topic in customs titled xvs bobber 125 pictures, so you can have a look at what they look like (iv got 4.5 inch risers and the choke lever hits the tank, but im removing it so it dont matter to me)
  16. oooo dont tempt me lol the go kart is fine... it works ......but i do have a potential project sat outside that needs an engine......its the left over carcus of the sachs roadster. im definatly interested, do you know whats up with the engines? and what would you want for them? do they come with the other bits and bobs, like carbs, loom, headders ect? pm me m8 then we can have a chat.

  18. its not a restriction, its to give the bike the correct fueling so it can achieve good mileage to the gallon, without it the bike will drink more fuel and be less economical and will do about 10-15 miles less on a full tank. put it this way with the petrol prices at a high and set to go up do you really want to remove it for a possible 2 or 3 mph gain in top speed? if you dont care and have an extra £5 to put in the tank every week then take it out, put a bigger main jet in the carb and move the adjuster on the needle forward a notch then adjust the mixture screw to suit. ride it like you stole it (yoink! soz up.yours ) then replace the piston rings and gaskets every year or so as they WILL wear out faster. but personally id leave it as it is and get more miles for your money. then when you come to sell it you can boast it dose "X" amount of miles to the gallon/full tank which will be a strong selling point!
  19. lol that 2nd one is funny 145 miles on clock but only 1 hours use! ......yeah ok then but yeah as far as i know the actual drive for the speedo is universal but its the connections to the wheel that are different. best go with the new one from the "shop" then you can send it back if for some reason it dont fit (but it should do)
  20. no smoke is a good thing means that the gaskets are doing there job, so the engine should be ok.
  21. put it this way if you never lube or clean the chain it will last for about 11 months b4 it grinds your sprockets to oblivian (and could cause you and the bike some damage if it comes off when ur doin 50mph) but if u clean the chain once a week(or more) and use chain lube then it could last you anyware between 2-3 years oh and adjust it properly! you want to do what B.W.J said and have about 15mm of play but note it will get tighter when you ride it after you adjust it, so you may need to adjust it again to get it right. personaly id always add chains and sprockets to the expendible parts like tiers and bulbs which i replace every year to make sure the bike is top notch! but thats just what i do.
  22. well iv got the dragstar fuel pump on it which could be forcing fuel into the chamber but the overflow pipe from the carb is dry. it starts up 1st turn of the engine, iv done everything i can with the mixture screw and set it so it dont "pop"... as much. but im gonna put a new exhaust gasket on, take the pump off and see what happens. then set about restricting the air flow in the filter slightly, to try and get it running leaner. but the plug is only reading slightly rich which would suggest that the timing needs a little adjustment but im gonna leave that one till iv tried everything i can think of .
  23. thats what im thinking. think the rubber seal thats on the cam cover is worn causing a bit of oil to leak out from the head.
  24. well it wasnt cherry red it was bright orrange! but il check that 1st thing! could be the leak in the system.
