  1. plus you can do shit like this to it......
  2. im sure its the honda shadow V2 that isnt a V-Twin engine.......its only got a single cylender and the other one is a fake....... where as the xvs 125 is a v-twin iv never ridden a shadow so cant say. but the xvs 125 is a mint bike.
  3. im a face booker but mainly its something else to do when im not on here go for a nose round see what ppl are up to. its handy for keeping in touch with ur freinds and family. and there is allot more to it, you can play games, make question airs, send photos, pm ppl ect ect. allot of it is bullshite but its something to do i suppose (if ur that sad) like allot of us iv got a bike to play with and ppl to meet face to face as to twitter ....think its just so you can see what the celebs of our generation are up to.......... ........how sad is that!
  4. yeah or just go to ooracing.com and buy a pre built carb suited to do the job. but even with a 150cc bore kit and carb to suit the head is going to bottleneck the performance and let it down. its better to have the 4 valve head, and properly set up carb. then the 2 valve head and 150cc kit.
  5. lol arnt we all? we never grow up ......we just get better toys! nah im just glad to get it on the road its been a while since iv rode that bike
  6. yeah wemoto do a 150cc bore kit, but there is a 170cc and 190cc kit out there. the engine was originally designed as a 150cc and all they have done is put a 125 piston, barrel and a 2 valve head on there. so its rated to 26bhp but made learner legal on the top end. im trying to locate a honda cbr 150cc 4 valve head which would bolt straight on but the only place i can get them is Thailand because iv made the seat i decided to keep the original shocks, the roads round my way are shocking so its just not practical to have struts......i want to enjoy riding it and not be looking forward to getting off cause my back is in two. but im sure with a well padded sprung seat you could use struts and not have any problems as to the rim its the original, iv kept everything original so if i come to sell it the next owner knows exactly whats what and dont have to hunt round for parts. its up to you if you lower the back but best bet would be to put the rim on and have a look one problem might be if you change the rim you might have to hunt round for a brake disk to fit, unless you can use the original.
  7. ha ha ha ha ha !!!! watch out people .........im on the road!
  8. i went with a honda cbr 125rr rs4 engine as its loads more reliable and parts are easy to find and at a reasonable price. plus it keeps the bike learner legal with the option to upgrade the cc if you wanted as to the filter iv just stuck a pod filter on the carb for now.....the bike runs ok but you can tell its down on performance...just got to sort that out. as to paint its all carcare rattle can. and iv ended up keeping the original shocks to keep the bike comfy plus it helps when it comes round to getting parts ....i know the chassis is xvs 125 and the engine is cbr 125 its going to be striped down at some point and re-painted and finished but at least its road worthy
  9. oh and if you want rid of the handlebars......im looking for a set but have you considered just pushing them up and forward bit? try it....you might like the look.
  10. thats a little strainge......what size/voltage fuse have you got? if memory serves me right it should be a 15A for the lighting circuit so it just blows the Xenon bulbs and not standard ones?
  11. if anything it will be a short in the electrics, are the fuses ok? and what volt fuses have you got? also did you get the right power bulbs?
  12. cheers barky! i need to take some updated photos as iv got fenders on it and iv changed a few bits and bobs but now its on the road...(well nearly)...i can start striping it down for painting and finishing got to sort out the little details.
  13. you will find that there is a load of plastic covers around the engine....iv taken mine off to make way for a honda cbr 125 engine. right.... well to start if you want straight handlebars ur going to need risers. you can get them from ebay. but the risers will need a bigger bolt than the ones you have at the top of the yoke. (the bars are 7/8 inch not an inch thick and search for drag bars ) so what iv done is drill out the holes where the old risers went, to 12mm, then all the risers off ebay will fit.(will make more sense when you take it apart) the second problem is the height......if you get risers smaller than 5 inch you will find that the controls hit the tank. then you will need some big washers (the biggest you can get with a 12mm hole) to put between the yoke and risers. (otherwise they wobble) as to the broken cover have a look on ebay now the fender. can you see the top of the bracket? thats how high off the wheel the fender is going to be! iv chopped my mount off at the frame but have had to weld on a support (in my case it was the sissy bar) and the fender is tie wrapped to that. but id recommend just chopping off all the half loops and leave the 2 struts at the side! that way you have bolt holes to mount a fender to. now to the paint.... im gonna use blackboard paint and a roller for mine iv done it b4 and its turned out well! but you need to take all the original paint off 1st....but its up to you what you use! best way to learn is to have a go and practice!
  14. boooooo.......i want to ride my baby....
  15. well.........phoned up the insurance company on Saturday and got it insured, took it to mot and it failed (the 3 things mentioned earlyer)........went home fixed it, took it back today and its passed! (yay) so all i needed to do is tax it online then i can ride it to work tomoz and save myself some money on taxi fair ....went online.......put my details in ........and oh?? "Your vehicle is not insured" .....checked my bank and they havent taken any money out (was meant to pay a deposit then pay in full at the end of the month) so now im pissed off! cant ride my bike to work so iv got to fork out another £10 for taxi!!!! and put £10 on my phone so i can ring them to sort this mess out!!! for f**k sake what the f**k are they f**kin playing at!! the f**kin stupid c**ts ............ .......WAN**RS!! rant over.
  16. i think uv just found the problem m8......if its split then it will be letting air in, making the engine run rough. its a common fault but needs sorting.
  17. well clean and switch the plugs b4 u take the carb off.....never know, might just need new plugs. as to checking the carb il do it in steps.and keep the carb on the bike. 1.take tank off 2.there is a little flat head screw that leads to an outlet on the left of the carb at the bottom, its the fuel drain screw. undo it and empty the carb of fuel. (dont turn the mix screw) 3.on the left there should be 4 (+ drive) screws around the "cover" undo them and take the cover off 4.right... there will be a float that goes up and down then some brass bits sticking out. 5.the one in the middle is the main jet, undo it and blow through it then put it back in (use a flat head screwdriver) 6.to either the left or right (cant quite remember) you will see another brass "pipe" thing with a flat head screwdriver bit on the top 7.undo it. It should be about an inch long with holes around the bottom, thats your pilot jet! 8.blow through it and put back in 9.put everything back together 10.let fuel in for a few seconds then try and start the bike. this should get rid of any dirt stuck in the jets, its a little fiddly but try not to contaminate anything with dirt if cleaning the carb and swapping the plugs dont help then we can go through what else to check. good luck
  18. ok when you said you cleaned the carb did you take it to pieces? the jets are inside the carb at the bottom. but try cleaning the plugs and swapping them over 1st (so plug in rear cylinder goes at the front and visa versa) then see if that sorts it out.
  19. lol it failed .....but only on 3 things ! just need to put a reflector on it, tighten up the bolts on the headlight, and make an engine mount. then its sorted!!!!!! yay! im quite surprised to be honest thought it would be allot worse than that! so yeah gonna get them sorted and get it on the road!!!!!!
  20. well its MOT time for the project got it booked in today at 9:45 but im not expecting it to pass...iv got it as good as i can for now but need to know if there is anything iv missed so its off to the mot station........managed to get insured quite easy ......£154 for the year, 6 years no claims, tpft, £100 excess and legal cover.. which isnt bad in my book! considering whats been done to it so yeah should be fun...... .....wish me luck!
  21. ""We really ought to make some stickies with info like this in the Newbie section...."" +1 best thing to do is make it so it takes a while for you to get going...... say if it takes you 20min to take all the locks off and get going then no way is any thief going to try and steel it. i used to put 3 heavy duty chains on mine and attach it to a lamp post.....took me a good 10- 15 min to take them all off and get going but it never got stolen!. if your going to put a cover on it then id suggest getting something with reflectors as iv put a cover on mine b4 and the neighbor reversed into it at night when they went to work there excuse was they couldnt see it....(shock!) at the mo my bike is stored off road, and if you could find it then it would take about 20 min to just move it onto the road....then there is the 5 ft fence with locked gate, 2 security lights, obstacle course of scrap metal (and things that make allot of noise if knocked over) like stacks of SMA baby milk tins dotted around in the dark then 2 chains, and a cover........
  22. yeah the engines are the same....just with different covers.
  23. hi Tyinthesky yeah its best to post a hello on the noob section... .... but welcome to the forum! im guessing ur wanting to get something similar to this.
  24. good job m8 looks nice! where did you get the white wall? im trying to find some for my xvs 125 bobber..... and are you going to paint the shocks? or leaving them?
  25. oh forgot to ask ..... when you cleaned the carb, did you take the jets out and blow through them? there is only 2 jets that come out and they both have a flat head screwdriver bits on them.... the one in the middle with the wide stubby head is the main jet (works from 1/2 throttle to full throttle) and then there is the long thinner one which is the pilot jet. the pilot jet sorts out starting and idling so could be blocked causing the bike to not run on idle and be rough.
