  1. yup just about as pointless as a daddy longlegs
  2. bloody hell m8 iv just gone on go compare and put in my details for your bike (but with no years claims and also didnt put in that iv made a claim) and got £165 tpft with £500 excess or £325 with £250 excess tpft! here is something to try stick in de556gj for the postcode and see if its just ur area.
  3. well put it this way a 2 stroke burns the oil with the fuel (they are mixed together) so more oil = less fuel = boom of engine. where as the 4 stroke just uses the oil for lubrication only, in the crank case. iv always been told that having too much oil in a 4 stroke does the same damage as having not enough or bad oil. iv been told this by many mechanics of all ages who have had many years in the trade (my main mechanic has been doing his job for over 35 years) i couldnt tell you why its bad having too much oil as i dont know, but im sure that anyone else on the forum would tell you the same thing. i might have to google it and see why its bad having too much oil. and then get back to you lol
  4. iv always talked to them direct and always got a better quote. but yeah keep me informed m8.
  5. lol when was your last claim? if its over 5 years ago then they dont care lol but probs best giving them a ring, helps if the bike is locked in a secure shed on the garden or secured garage with security cameras iv just told them the truth that mine is at the back of the house with a chain(cheep oxford ones) on both wheels (the chains are concreted into the floor) and that i only do about 6000 miles a year commuting to work and social.
  6. lol well i havent had an accident with rampdale...so couldnt tell you what they are like if you need to make a claim but they do an agreed value with me....they just ask how much i think the bike is worth. last quote i got was £65 but that was with an agreed value of £500.
  7. soz vez .....lol what insurance company u with? im with rampdale but it is just tpft with no extras, (apart from legal cover)
  8. wouldnt washing up liquid work better? just put a light smear all over the rubber?
  9. 23 y/o xvs bobber 125 04 plate, 0 accidents, 0 thefts, 6 years no claims, £65 TPFT
  10. dont worry about the bit of rubber holding the dampers together. there fine. an easy way to check the bearings, get the big bolt that holds the wheel on and put it in the bearings and wiggle it side to side if you get any play then the bearing needs replacing , a broken/worn bearing could happen because of the bent swingarm plus lack of grease.
  11. i think ppl misunderstood my comment abut the sprocket moving when the wheel is stationary, what i meant was that with the rear wheel on the bike you can TURN the sprocket (the way its meant to) by about 5mm each way, which i think is normal, if however you have any other movement, then yes more than likely the bearing is worn.
  12. lol well its not hard taking them out but it is a little tricky putting them back in. i had to do it when i was painting the rims, ended up having to jump on the tire once i lined it all up lol.
  13. hi kelum cant help you with sizes, but i know the xvs dragstar 125 ones will fit! there were a couple on ebay last time i looked, but just as long as its only a small movement you will be ok, i can move my dragstar one about 5mm forward and backward so think its normal to have a little movement.
  14. iv got one that i could sell u, id have to have a look at it and dismantle the bracket from the mount. then have a look on ebay to get back to you with a price if your interested get back in touch
  15. what do you get if you cross a cow with a cammel?........lumpy milkshake!
  16. a bloke gets horny at work, its all he can think about! so he decides when he gets home he is gonna screw his wifes head off! in there 1 bed apartment. he gets home and all the lights are off, he creeps into his bedroom, slides under the covers at the bottom of the bed and starts giving his wife oral, he really goes for it and in 10min she came 3 times all over his face. He decided to go have a wash and brush his teeth in the bathroom and opens the door to find his wife there shaving her legs, WHAT THE FUCK! he shouts shhhhh! (said his wife) youl wake ur mother!

  18. whats the longest sentence known to man? . . . . I do.
  19. well i was thinking something along the lines of a side mounted velocity stack thingy going into a chamber with the air filter inside then that would force air into the chamber ready to be swallowed by the engine, but id have to have a play and see what i come up with.
  20. well the way i think it works is similar to a sink. (bare with me on this) you fill a sink with water (like the box is full of air) and its calm cause its contained, and therefore more "dense", so when you take the plug out (or when the intake valves open) the "dense" water flows at maximum capacity into the drain. but if you make the water turbulent (like the air would be without the box) then its not as "dense" therefore it dont flow as well into the drain. sort of like trying to catch your breath on a really windy day. iv done a little research as there isnt allot of info on this matter, and all iv found is that the air box plays a part in the performance and that if set right could increase hp throughout the rev range. but if set wrong (or removed completely) then the engine will suffer for it. so once i get the filter im gonna have a play and see if i can come up with a smaller alternative to the box, or try a ram air setup.
  21. well im guessing that no one can help so iv ordered an airfilter and am going to experiment and see what the crack is.
  22. if you take the spark plug out and seal the hole with ur finger you should get pressure that pushes it when turning the engine over. if not then its defo the rings and probably the piston. you would need to take the engine out , take the head off and barrel to check the piston, then replace if its knakerd, you will need to make sure you keep the timing right! and get some gaskets. best gettin a manual aswell.
