  1. just an idea as i dont know about the bike itself, but could you fit either a bigger or smaller sprocket to gain more speed / torque? if he cant get up a hill then the cheapest solution would be to play with the final gear ratio...(i say smaller rear sprocket as he will have to drop down a gear to gain more torque but it could climb the hill faster...) just out of curiosity what is the top speed of the bike on a flat road? could you drop the top speed (put a bigger rear or smaller front sprocket) to gain more torque which would translate into speed on a hill? im just thinking its a 125cc with "16 horsepowers" ...??? surely he should be able to hit 60mph up a hill?
  2. easy way to see would be to bypass the relay at least then you could narrow down the problem.
  3. hmmmm.....could do but it depends if the clutch cover had enough metal to it, to put new threads for the window, otherwise it would mean making a new cast of the casing........might take a while to get it right. at the mo im thinking small for starters, like key rings, ......i did come across plans to make a lathe from cast aluminium might give that a go at some point.
  4. Think il pass on the wepons. Im going to have a crack at making the yamaha tuning fork logo with Y.O.C round the rim next week. But im stuck for ideas of what else to cast
  5. lol too much work for chess pieces i could spend hours making the models ..........best not though . anyway got a couple of vids today! just made some blocks to start with. (not sure how to put them on..) http://s793.photobucket.com/albums/yy218/my_mum_is_a_man/?action=view&current=Video-0001.mp4 http://s793.photobucket.com/albums/yy218/my_mum_is_a_man/?action=view&current=Video-0002.mp4
  6. could do ....but i am trying to make some money here .....id have to get a mold made so i could make some wax templates. i wonder if wax will stick to epoxy resign? (i work with the stuff) might have to wait till next week for a test sample as im off . il go on google and see what wax wont stick too.
  7. hi all been a while since iv put a new topic up, the bobber is in bits in the shed ready for when i decide to get back to biking ...(passed my cage test and been using it since) ......plus im low on funds so cant afford to run both the car and bike..(devistated)... sooooo i thought about how i could make some extra dosh....and came up with a furnace at the mo iv got it all set up ready to melt down any aluminum that i can get my hands on! (gonna give it a test run tomoz night and take some pics) at 1st i was just going to melt it down, turn into blocks then take to the scrap yard......but metal prices have dropped to the point where it wouldnt be worth it. so im thinking of making some cast aluminum parts ......but dont know what to make. anyone got any ideas? (nothing too fancy..... its my 1st time) i was thinking something like custom brake/clutch levers but im open to ideas.
  8. would be a mega amount of info ........dunno if the server would be able to handle it ......but i dont know anything. suppose its a good idea but souldnt we cap it? i mean if we give all this info out for nothing then what appreciation will we get? ......its hard for me to explain........the way it is now is you introduce yourself, say hello then ask for help then people reply, you have a chat get to know people and grow friendships, we all own bikes so we all have a common interest and can have a good laff but say if i was a noob and found what i was looking for then what would be the point of the forum?? could do with the forum available to everyone then all the how too's available to members only.
  9. they are a good looking bike and look bigger than they are but they will never sound anything like a 600
  10. hi kelum am i right in thinking that you will come to a stop and the engine will cut out? also you say it slows down then goes again whilst riding? that sounds like a fuel line is blocked. or the float needle gets stuck. that "knock" dont sound good, the xv 125 engine is known to have a week crank shaft.....how many miles have you done?
  11. just stick to normal lights.......as in red for the tail light, then brighter red for the stop ligh,t with orange indicators, and a reflector somewhere on the back when i went to put my bobber in for its 1st mot the one thing it failed on (or would of failed on if he hadnt spotted it and told me b4 the mot) was it had no red reflector on the back......so a quick trip to cmc (yamaha dealership in clay cross near me) and £2 later i came back with a couple of them crappy stick on reflectors.....and there no bigger than a 2p. safe to say he was happy and put it through no probs
  12. try putting no more than a teaspoon of motor oil in the spark plug hole (this should temporarily fix any compression issue) then try and start .....you will get a little smoke but it should start up better (if it is the compression) if it starts the same then i reckon your carb needs a good clean think the next step would be a full service clean air filter drop the oil flush and refill with good stuff new spark plug strip, clean, and reset carb possible new brake pads.
  13. right im only suggesting this to see if it is the switch or not (so please dont ride without a switch), can you find the cable that runs to the switch? if you find it, have a look at the connector it should be 2 weirs (i think), if you get a bit of old wire and bridge the 2 weirs in the connector then this should effectively act like the switch. try it out and see if it will go into gear without the engine stopping. if nothing changes then it could be another problem . other than the lack of a switch.
  14. probs the best thing to do would be to write a list of everything you tried / checked and put the project on hold, one day you will get the motivation back then at least you know / can remember what you have done and what needs doing. sometimes the best thing to do is walk away then come back at a later date. to be honest i do this all the time il strip my bike down to bare frame with the intention of completely restoring it from the paint up. then when i get part way through i loose all interest and put it on the back bench till i get the motivation to get it sorted. im sorry to hear you havent managed to get the engine started but hopefully you will do one day
  15. im not a scammer and im a little offended. the t shirt idea didnt go ahead because i would need everyones money up front to get it started and i wasnt comfortable doing that .......it didnt look good to be honest "yeah give me all the money and il send the shirts (in good faith"... (i wouldnt just give my money to someone in good faith so i dont expect anyone else to) so i came up with a better plan ...i would put my own money into it to get the printing screens made (about £100) then when people wanted one they could pay via paypal and id get them printed one at a time and sent out ......instead of getting a wad of cash and people thinking that i would do a runner. but i couldnt afford to pay the £100 up front, plus my kids Christmas money got robed that year so i had to sort that out. iv posted the web address so if anyone would like to look into getting them made then there more than welcome as i just cant afford it. there seems to be some interest again but the problem last time was that we needed a certain amount to be ordered to get the shirts in the lower price bracket, but if someone got the screens made... then for a little more (than the 10 or 15 quid per shirt) they could be made in dribs and drabs . or a bulk order of 10 then one at a time when thay are wanted. and just to let everyone know i never asked for, or received any money reguarding the shirts. its a good idea but needs someone else to look into / invest in it. 9
  16. do you have the side stand out when you put it in gear? check the connections and clean if needed then try again. iv got no experience with your model but all side stand switches cut the engine when it gets put into gear (with the stand out). you might be able to bypass it to check if you need a new one (thats if it dont work when you pull the stand up). have a look at the switch ......normaly it gets turned on when the stand is out (but dont hold me to this)........so by rights if you disconnect the switch (follow the cable and pull the plug) then it should go into gear (but dont ride with the side stand out!!!! or with the switch disconnected) its a safety device so if faulty should be replaced with a new one asap! if this dont help then it could be an electrical problem but as i said before iv got no experiance with your model of bike.

  19. yeah id say it sounds like the carb ........most likely a bit of water or dirt in there. give it a clean and blow the jets out and the flashing (do you have an alarm / immobilizer?) could be a bulb out or your battery is running low.
  20. have a look at this might help you
  21. lol its a notebook and nothing else is running as its only used for going on the internet.
