  1. could be the clutch is catching/dragging (well sounds like it) adjust the clutch cable to make it tighter, but not too much and get back to me, oh and check ur chain it tends to tighten up the 1st time you adjust it. (just incase your not sure how to adjust the clutch cable) you have 1 adjuster at the lever end and another at the engine end do the engine end one as it has more effect if you get a couple of spanners (think 12mm ....not sure) undo the lock nut (little one) then undo the long nut (big one) by 4 full turns, start the bike and see if that helps then adjust accordingly and do back up. adjust the biting point on the lever end adjuster. and the sachs is one of the easiest bikes to work on lol.
  2. what colour are ur spark plugs? is the choke on?
  3. he isnt dead its just a cover up so they can interrogate him make ppl think he is dead and say u dumped the body at sea......hmmmmm.....
  4. the hole mod wont effect the performance no. and iv done it on both my xvs 125 and sachs. it just makes the exhaust louder and the note deeper.
  5. ahh yeah forgot i had that! (doh!) cheers dude for reminding me lol
  6. hello the bobber project is getting ready for an mot but iv noticed that the fork oil seals are a little worse for ware so id like to replace them but iv never had to do them before... can anyone give me instructions on how to replace them? iv just bought some off flea-bay My link so just got to wait for them to turn up, but in the mean time i can get them ready for replacing......might even get the forks painted whilst there off the bike cheers. .Paul.
  7. the seat has got 2 bolts at the back which attach to a 3mm metal plate which is slightly bent then welded to the frame. at the front of the seat iv got a metal plate which attaches at the bottom of the tank (iv taken the original seat bracket off the underside of the tank.) the front of the seat bolts to the frame and also holds the tank on.
  8. a hello in the noobs section goes a long way around here ....(just some friendly advice ) as to your question ......you cant take the baffles out of the exhaust without cutting them to peices.......but there is a mod you can do to make them sound a little better. you drill 5 x 6mm holes in the end of each exhaust. it makes it louder and a little deeper. then when its due for an mot you put 6mm bolts in the holes. but the best mod would be to get the slash cuts! they look loads better and make the bike sound like it looks. plus there hard to get hold of so it should be a nice little extra if you decide to sell the bike.
  9. it cost about 25 quid. £5 on wire brush drill attachment £8 on hammerite metal primer £8 on 4x black rattle can paint, (still got some left over lol) £4 on sand paper but i found blackbord paint is quite good, and weather/chip resistant.
  10. there are a few problems that you need to solve when changing the rear light setup. 1. the new lights need to be e-marked to pas the mot 2. if you take the old one off where are the indicators going to go? 3. where is the numberplate going to go? 4. your going to need numberplate lights. it can be done as iv done a couple . but id recommend this tail light click me iv used it b4 and it ticks most boxes. its e-marked and adjustable, so all you need to sort out s a number plate bracket, indicators and number plate lights.
  11. yeah i tried to prise mine off with a knife.....sort of worked but it took about half an hour each side (i scratched the paint to bits but i was re-painting it) its just a strong glue they use but the fishing line trick is a good one! and just to give you a sneek peek of what it will look like..
  12. i never expect a sensible answer lol
  13. right iv got my hands on a honda gx260 engine with 8bhp ....it all works fine and starts on 1st pull! i managed to get it for nowt so was wondering what i could do with it? yeah i could clean it up and sell it but id rather use it for something.........any ideas?
  14. id stick with an exact copy of the original engine, will be cheeper and easyer to hook up. yeah the new engine might slot in, but it might need a diferant ecu which means new loom. plus if the original is liquid cooled (im not sure on ur model) then there is a reason for it. probably because an air cooled engine over heats.
  15. you will still need to think about:- if it would fit in the frame, would you need mounts?, will the exist for the new enginee fit in the space?, and can you wire up the new engin? (probably need to make a new loom) plus you will need to notify the dvla about any changes to the bike ......then you need to get it to pass an mot, and last but not least you need to be able to insure it! all in all your looking at a mega amount of work! or about £3000 if you pay someone to do it for you. ur best bet would be to just buy a new engine exactly the same as the old one then its just a case of whip old engine oit and pop new one in .....notify the dvla and away you go.
  16. yeah i still need to build the radiator cover might do something a little fancy with a metal stone guard to make sure nothing is going to go through it . just need to get the wire mesh. and im going to take the end can off after the mot and pop the decibel killer in there from the can. .......nice and loud.
  17. just some recent pics of the project still got to finish it off.....need to make fenders, exhaust bracket, and make a radiator guard ......but hopefully it will pass the mot at the end of this month and be on the road since the last update iv made and fitted the seat, re-done the sissy bar, and sorted out the engine enjoy!
  18. id say ride the bike and enjoy it for as long as you can last thing u want to do is spend a couple of grand customizing it to find that 6 months down the line ur bord and want something bigger or comfier or something totaly different. iv customised my bike but thats because i blew the engine.... so i decided to do more than just put an engine in and turned it into a fully custom bike.
  19. yeah the sachs roadster uses the same engine as the xv 125 virago... its not that thin m8 about 2mm. iv managed to weld it so it cant be too bad
  20. scrap the last one! and check this out! click me!
  21. yes m8 i do i got mine from www.wemoto.com took 2 days to turn up
  22. ahhh you didnt mention that you couldnt check ur spark plugs! lol yeah could be the plug is just dirty with carbon buildup causing an intermittent spark it should be a 17mm socket that you need to take the plug out. id do that 1st to see if that solves ur issue with the misfire.
  23. i would m8 but im skint and to be honest i just dont have the time to look into it for you i work from 7:30 to 4:30 and dont get home till 6 in the afternoon, at the weekends im more busy than i am during the week....... sorry m8 wish i could help you out.
  24. are you having to wash the engine each week cause of oil??....that dont sound right id get the gaskets checked/replaced. the spark plugs shouldnt cause a misfire if you get some rain! check that it is all sealed properly and that there is no exposed wiers. my bike did something similar but it turned out to be a bad earth connection. check all your earthing points to make sure you have a good earth m8
