Well at last my frame is in the paint shop being painted They said that laquer would just peel off after about 6 months, and they explained to me that normally they are painted and laquered. I was pretty confident that it was just laquered, so they asked me to phone up yamaha to check. Well i spoke to yamaha uk, and they told me that the frames undergo a chemical treatment at the factories which leaves a clear coting on them, he didnt know what the process was called, he said the only thing he could say was near to it was anadising. Didnt really want to get it anadised mainly because of the fact that it dulls the alloy, and its expensive. Found out thought that my dads mates friend does it, so took it down there and he said he would do it for £50 brilliant i though, but they realised they couldnt do it anyway becasue of the pressed in steel bearing sleeves So now my bike is going look like an alloy wheel Well at least i will be able to start putting it back together come next week

  13. Yeah good idea Stew, i would appreciate it 8)
  14. Your telling me!
  15. Seems weird that there are companies that do the r7 conversion for the r1 and r6, for reasonable amount of money, but no similar alternatives for the YZF. I think the only differences between the R and the SP, are that the SP came with a closer cut gearbox, klein flatside carbs and single seat
  16. HI Mate, nice. I heard that the R7 fairings are pretty straightforward to fit, just need to make new brackets to hold the cone and instruments on. Do you know what sort of work is involved in fitting the R1 fairings? And what work is required to fit the R6 back? I would love the R1 back on my bike! 8) Let us know how you get on with the conversion
