Thanks for the info, but I've managed to correct the problem, by luck more than judgement. I didn't realize that a bolt spacer had fallen off behind the sprocket cover when I orriginally took the cover off (too much grease and crap). I've replaced the spacer and the gear selection seems to be working fine now. I'm assuming that the sprocket cover must have been distorting without the spacer and applying preasure to the gear shaft. Thanks again.

Hi, Can anyone help me with a slight problem I seem to have created? I have just replaced the chain and sprockets on my XJ600, replaced the sprocket cover, re-connected the shift lever to the shift arm and found to my horror that I cannot select the gears anymore. The best I can do is find first, neutral and second. Any help would be appeciated, thanks.
