Hello all .. My first post ..... I have the same problem with my 1982 XJ750 Maxim but 2/3 fire and 1/4 won't when cranking the engine. Once I let go of the starter button, I will get spark on 1/4. Sometimes I get spark on 1/4 when first pushing the start button but then nothing while cranking. Ignitor box?? The bike will not start. Is there anything else to check? I've never seen this problem before on any other bike I've owned. I gotta tell ya ... this site is a great place for info. It's helped me already on my way to restoring a neglected Maxim. (left outside for 12 years but it shows signs of life!)
