I have exactly the same problem- I can't be sure its exactly the prob same as yours, but my SR250 has a really dodgy spark plug wire (not where it's connected to the plug itself, but where the plug connector connects to the cable from the system, if that makes any sense!) and it comes out easily, cutting out the bike. It's a little crude but making sure it's connected and taping it with cellotape solved my problem, it hasn't done it for months now. Have a go and see if it works.

Hi there, I've recently bought a 1994 Yamaha SR250, and I'm just looking for a few simple ways to squeeze a couple more HP out of the engine to make it a little bit more suitable for short bursts on the motorway and dual carriageways and the like. I've heard there are fuel additives than clean the carb nozzles, which are the best of these? Also are there any engine mods that could be done? Nothing too complex, I have a sound knowledge of working with engines & mechanics but not advanced. Thanks!
