Thanks for the reply. I researched "YZ serial numbers" and it would appear that my bike is a 78 YZ80E (2J5) and not a 79 (2X6).

The number on the frame and engine is 2J5-007853. We were told it's a 1979 YZ80"E" when it was bought in 1988. Anyone have info on the numbers for these little bikes?? Thanks.
