I will be trying my best not to cut it again as it looks ugly with a second weld imo. What made me laugh in the link was the part he says"Once removed there is more unpleasant sensation of heat right calf" Probably should save the finished pipe for winter then.

Thats what she said Interesting, it looks like there is another part separate from the large piece. The pipe has been cut twice on the link though. I wonder if it could all be removed with just the one cut i have. Well ill get the hammer out tomorrow and see. Cheers Paul.

It should do, but you will probably have to change the main jet to a 210 and also the power jet is supposedly different, but that is part of the float bowl on the bottom of the carb as far as i know. Maybe someone else on here will give you a clearer answer. Vez.
  5. Ok so i have attempted to remove the cat/restrictor from a spare expansion chamber for the DT125RE. It hasn't gone as planned so i thought i would post my progress to vent a little stress and maybe get some feedback from you guys as to where to go next. Here is how it looked before the butchery Here it is opened up. The part on the left is the pipe that leads to the silencer and the part on the right goes to the engine. I can't say a didn't swear a little (ok alot) when i first saw it. I wasn't expecting something as large and well fitted as this, it appears to go all the way along the pipe to the rust patch on the right in the first picture. There are 4 spot welds on the outside that looked like they held something in place, after inspecting the top two they don't appear to do anything. Also looking into the inside edge in the second picture, it looks like the cat/restrictor is welded all the way around the inside edge to the expansion chamber. From the looks of it I don't think it is coming out intact or i may even have to cut the pipe again. Spot welds I ground the top of this one away before realizing that there is nothing inside the pipe for it to hold. Any thoughts, comments or ideas are appreciated? Vez.
  6. You and me both Andy All i can say about the rookie mistake is whoops I am trying not to laugh . It happens though. At least it wasn't a wheel . I have a silencer you may want. I will PM some pictures to you later. I have to post about the restriction in the expansion chamber first. Vez.

Heres a video to show people the basics of posting a picture on here using imageshack. Maybe clearer if viewed in HD on youtube instead of embedded here. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=TniqowlXgbw < direct link. Vez.
  8. When i have had head gaskets blow on my DTR they usually flood the cylinder with coolant, either when running or when left to stand overnight. But my DTR has a hard life off road which may be why the head gasket has never just leaked in one direction like yours could be doing. A Yamaha dealer can order you a gasket. I think there is a ATV dealer in Leeds that is a Yamaha dealer, but you may find one closer. Vez
  9. Sounds reasonable to me. I do have alot of questions regarding who sets the bikes up with the restrictions for each country and how, mine is a UK model but was assembled in Spain like most are from the last of the DTR's. The only thing that bothers me is the reason we compared is because OG is missing his power-bands, where mine has them, albeit low power power-bands but they are still there. It just leaves me confused as to why mine could be faulty when it still runs quite well. I'm tempted at this point to take the servo off the Sachs to see if that operates any differently on my bike to clarify if it is the cdi controlling the servo direction or the way the servo is wired. I've sent the videos with an email explaining my concerns to Yamaha, i will wait for a response before tweaking anything. Vez.

Im not familiar with that carb tbh. Is it a Mikuni? Round or flat sided?. The manual i have which only goes upto 93 TZR's says a 180 jet, but Yamaha may have changed it on yours. The same manual gives a stopper plate hight of 8.3mm with 0.4mm +/- mixture screw setting as 1 1/4 turns and the 4th groove from the top for the needle clip. But these may be wrong with your bike being an import and slightly newer. Getting the right manual or someone who knows is probably your best bet. If you have a servo on???? Then the bike may not start the same until warmed up, mine doesn't but the servo is under debate atm. My DTR without a servo starts alot better cold though. Vez.
