As far as im am aware they are practically the same the TZR and DTR bottom end wise, the TZR however has an electric start fitted, where the DTR is a kick-start, and a few other differences, like gearing ratios and clutch cover style etc.. The cylinder are nikosil nikasil plated on the TZR (4fu00) and standard iron liner on the DTR(3mb00). Y-1 and Y-2 are on all DTR and TZR cylinders and heads as far as i know they don't mean anything in particular, possibly some form of identification from the factory/assembly line. So you have a TZR engine as far as i can tell. But with the fact that so many parts are interchangeable between the different models ( TZR,TDR,DTR and others) there is always the chance that a previous owner has replaced parts from other models onto yours, although it isn't anything to worry about if that is the case. HTH Vez.

  11. It's been said by a few of you here, but i have to say it again. There are not many real mechanics left, most of the people you find these days are simply parts fitters, and this is the very reason i changed my occupation from mechanic (fitter) when i was younger. I wanted to repair vehicles and not replace everything thats broke with new parts. I don't know if its the health and safety mob, or just the fact that alot of people sue at the slightest problem these days that prevents that kind of fix it up attitude. The last time i went to a dealer with my bike it was for a service. They put 2-stroke oil in the radiator expansion bottle, and coolant in the 2-stroke bottle , so never again will i go near a main dealers for work/repairs. Good thread btw. Vez.

  20. Yes i know, and alot if you take it to a mechanic to "fully de-restrict it"( if they don't tell you it can't be de-restricted like i have heard before) Vez.
  21. Hope they catch the scum. A word of warning, even a chain won't stop them. My DT125RE was stolen in March from the back of my house, behind a big gate chained to a huge concrete block. The chain was cut and left behind. And a quick story on the police action, or lack off. Phoned them to report the theft of my pride and joy and they didn't even bother to come and examine the chain or check the local CCTV. Received the standard "there is nothing more we can do" letter a few weeks after. So insurance payed up, and i got another bike. Withing a week the tax disc was stolen from the new bike while i was in the local coop. So phoned the police to report it, and they asked if i wanted an officer to call round etc. As you can imagine i had a few choice words and questions as to why they would come out for a £15 tax disc, but not when the bike was taken, to which i got a load of bs about policy change etc . To top that, 2-3 years ago, i lived across from an ex-police chief. One night somebody attempted to steal his rusty old landrover, and within minutes there were no less than 6 police cars/vans and a helicopter on the scene. My conclusion, the police are a waste of time where theft is concerned, unless your a police chief or or famous c**t etc. . Vez.

I have to disagree, the plastics are all £5ea more than they are direct from Yamaha, guess they have to make a profit. And also there are at least 4 different styles of RE, which is why when you order direct from a Yamaha dealer they ask you for an engine number to confirm its the right style for your bike. Vez.

"I don't" (or ' I do not') currently own a Yamaha. That should be "English" je van harte welkom I tried to learn the Dutch language a few years ago, it's not easy. So i have respect for anyone who can speak a second language. And your English is very good btw. Vez. (note: My English isn't that good either, and its my first language)

http://www.motorcycl...-contactus.aspx You can order them new at any Yamaha Dealer, just bought a new rear r/h panel for my RE for £20. Stickers can be more than the plastics though, i was quoted £32 for the sticker for that panel . Vez. Edit: i was quoted £32 ,but on the invoice it says £7 for the sticker.
