  1. Cheers, My main concern is that its ok for college on the 20th, ill do more than kick it if i have to catch a bus there.
  2. Well I'm now not going. The answer to how far i could get was 3.4 miles. Went out earlier, the bike cut out at a set of traffic lights with a loud clunk and refused to start until it had cooled (turned over ok'ish just wouldn't start), riding home was like riding with the brake on. Guess ill be spending my weekend in the shed.
  3. Not difficult to see why How can it cost less for a chicken burger than it does cheese on toast
  4. No mate, i swapped the piston/rings and top end bearing last weekend, made the rattle/knock worse though . So i figure if i get some breakdown cover and just see how far i get. Considering just going for Saturday as it will mean carrying less.

As you said it was hard to find parts, can you not fit the whole headlight from ebay until you find a rim?

I would take it too the dealer and get them to look at it, saves the chance of voiding your warranty should something else arise before it ends.
  11. I've seen drewpy ride and you've got a 350lc so the words f**k that spring to mind

  18. Hi, and welcome to the Forum Ryan. The way to tell if it has been bored out to 60cc, would be to take the cylinder off and measure the diameter of the bore and piston then compare it to the Yamaha specs for your bike. Tbh i think its is unlikely that it has, and imo its more likely that the previous owner has had the bike re-bored to the first or second oversize, as is common when a cylinder is damaged/worn, but this won't get it to 60cc afaik or affect your insurance. 50cc bikes are usually uprated to 70-80cc by the fitting of a larger cylinder (aka a big-bore kit), so 60cc doesn't sound right to me. If it has been bored out, then it is unlikely to cause any problems with the bike, as long as it was done by a professional bike shop and not by some guy with a flap wheel in his shed. If a big-bore kit has been fitted then this would be different and if it was me i would check the bike for part numbers on the cylinder/head and compare it to the standard parts to make sure its original. If it isn't original and you want to be totally straight concerning the insurance, then purchasing a new/secondhand cylinder and fitting it would be a good learning experience for you and not too difficult. Personally, either way i would just insure it as a standard DT50 and enjoy the bike. And plead ignorance if any issue should arise. HTH Vez.

I wouldn't use 20 cans of stella too either, but for different reasons
  21. Copper conducts heat at a fast rate, maybe contributing to the melting, just a thought. Well good luck, and let us know how it goes.
  22. That looks like an older silencer and rubber gasket thing, not sure about the front pipe though. If/when you are sure that the silencer isn't blocked it may be worth getting some tube to bridge the gap in between the pipes, maybe even an old drinks can cut and rolled (with some gun gum for assurance) and placed under the rubber would work. Just to stop the hot exhaust gases directly hitting the rubber and possibly melting it again. I have never seen one melt before and have even used inner tube on after-market pipes and that never melted, but after-markets tend to have one pipe sit inside the other, so the short pipe may be the problem if it isnt a blockage. HTH Vez.

Believe it was Mark Twain who said "I did not have time to write you a short letter, so I wrote you a long one instead." I think its very suiting to you Mike. Continuing this discussion is a waste of time with someone who KNOWs it all already BTW I'm pretty sure everyone knew what the OP meant, so there is no need to be a grammar nazi. You want perfect grammar, go find an English language discussion forum and correct people there. This is a bike forum, so grammar is not the priority in my opinion.
  24. Just removed some from an old barrel, i will throw them in my bag for squires

Wavy discs came about because the notches that create the wave remove mud etc from the disc and pads during motion, thus increasing the breaking potential compared to standard round discs, do some research
