O-ring is the standard chain for a DTR, but the cheaper heavy duty work just as well but require more regular cleaning and oiling etc. Apologies if that was confusing. I say super moto'ed DTR's are pointless, and i can drift one in standard form on road and even better off road ( requires the PV pinning open though). But thats no reason to say its not worth it, if its what you want to do, easiest way i know of is too fit a DTX front end and wheels. Not a fan of the DTX, but they ain't that bad. Good to hear, Where you get them from? The YZ mudguards will fit, but the rear needs some modifying from what i hear, although can't say for sure what year YZ. As for the coloured chains and sprockets. I have seen blue Renthal sprockets and gold chains on a DTR but never any of the coloured ones i think you mean, thats not to say they aren't available for the DTR. A suggestion would be to fit an o-ring chain and sprocket setup suited to the standard DTR, there is nothing wrong with the chain and sprockets on the DTR as standard imo. I was going to type a whole load of reasons as to why fitting a YZ sprocket and chain setup would be a waste of time and money and be basically pointless, i will save you from all that and just say no they don't fit . Thought i would add, You don't need to wait for a cover note at most post offices, as they have access to the same MID database as the police, so it is worth asking if your nearest post office will do it without a cover note.

My insurance has been valid as soon as i have paid, but i normally pay fully so it may be different if you pay installments. It does take three days to be put on the MID database though, which the police use, so you risk getting pulled and having to wait while the police phone your insurers to confirm you are insured. http://www.askmid.com/ownvehicle/ Check your insurance status here. He didn't have to resort to stealing someones bike, he chose to do it. A bike is not something we need to survive. The only thing i can possibly understand needing to resort to stealing for, is food for yourself/family.

Have you tried a Yamaha dealer, last time i checked they still sold them, was a few years back though. Failing that, there is a guy from Portugal on EBAY does pattern plastics for the DTR. If its not too much to ask, an introduction in the bar would be nice .

I don't think anyone is saying that the death sentence should be dealt out to bike thieves, more that if they die in the process of stealing a bike then they don't deserve any sympathy. Maybe i could of worded my response better, but i think if they do die whilst stealing a bike they have got off lightly, i think they should have their hands tied up be given a dose or any other ailment that makes you want to itch like mad, then left to rot in a cell for 6-months with nothing but the bare minimum amount of nourishment they need to survive(no tv /games console/gym or any other bs that they get now) to contemplate why they are there. And also sterilize them upon release to stop them reproducing and spreading their genes. And thats me being nice. If it was legal i would prefer to deal with them myself, using a blowtorch a wire coat hanger a lump hammer and a soundproof room. [/rant]

I'm in agreement with nearly everyone here, the thieving bstds deserve anything that happens to them. Death is a light sentence and torture would be more fitting imo. The police don't continue to chase cars (stolen or not) if they decide that said car driver is likely to cause death/injury to anyone whilst trying to evade capture, or at least they don't in Manchester.
