  1. Hey i have been trying to remove the timing chain from my xs400 and i can't seem to get it out in my manual it says to use a spanner to hold the rotor so the chain doesnt move but now i got my wrench stuck on the bolt for the chain guide anyone have a idea how i may be able to remove the chain? Thanks
  2. thanks for the reply's i will do some checking tomorrow to make sure it will work.
  3. Thanks a lot i finally got it out, I had one other question though, Could use one of those AGM batteries on a 79 xs 400 it says it can be used on the 1980 so i figure it could but i just wanted to check before i spent the money.
  4. Hey again I have been trying to get the motor out of the frame, i follow the service manual on what needed to come off before i removed it. Now i cant seem to pull it out is there any chance that there may be a hidden bolt or two that could be still holding the motor on?
  5. thanks for the replies, I'm having a little trouble getting the motor out off the frame but i'm hoping that i will get started on it this weekend. I bought a new camera so hopefully i can figure it out so that i can post pictures of my progress. Thanks Again!

  9. hey guys, I am in the process of taking a 79 xs400and turning it into a bobber. First i took care of my carb problem but when i tested the compression it was extremely low so im wondering if anyone knows where i can find the torque needs to be for the various motor parts. I am also wondering if anyone knows where i might a quire a gasket set for it. Thanks Warkilt

I am rebuilding my bs34 carbs and i am trying to get the pilot jet and my manual says to use a tapered rod to remove it but i don't understand what they mean by doing that. I would think if you push to hard then you would just push it in harder. If anyone has some suggestions that would be great.
  14. Ok Sweet thanks Again!
  15. I don't mind having to fabricate something i just wanted to know if the electrical would work on it. Thanks Warkilt
