YESSSS. got there in the end. Thanks to everybody that helped especially OG (thanks P) This is my old petrol tank riddled with rust holes. New one would have cost £500.00. got a new one from E.bay for £60.00

Just be careful when you go to foreign countries. They have their own local by-laws which are not known in the UK (I know that Greece is part of the EU) But on BBC Points West this week there was a Non-League football club from Bristol in Greece celebrating something or other dressed in nuns clothing and got arrested for "insulting the uniform". They spent 40 hours in police custody with no food or drink and had to appear in court in their nuns clothing. (Maybe to humiliate them?) If it's any help the engine number on my XJ600 is located on the right hand side of the bike on top of the clutch housing where the oil filler cap is. The serial number (chassis/frame number) is again located on the right hand side of the bike on the frame just under the handlebars. Mike

I've allways used Castrol chain wax

Make sure it's suitable for chains with O.rings as i'm sure yours will have them.

Sorry about delay answering, yes, it is a common problem I get it with mine at around 4500rpm and i'm sure it's to do with exhaust system because just before I had to replace them it almost dissapeared but as soon as I put new ones on it came back again. The annoying thing is on my bike 4500rpm is at 60mph so I tend to go at 62mph and it's completely gone. Mike

It's been stay at home weather in Wiltshire, been annoying the missus by getting in the way in the kitchen while she is doing the dinner. Anybody else in the country had better weather that could get out on their bike?

Sat Nav vs Road map? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'm still using my 1974 AA route map. No I'm not (only joking), I am using a more modern large scale version. Seriously though I prefer the good old fashioned way of planning your route the night before.

Is it a continous rattle or does it just happen around 4500 rpm?

Going on from my last comment, about 12 years ago we had a bomb scare in Chippenham (they found an unexploded bomb in a field) so all the traffic was stopped from going into the centre and as I was slowly going down the queue a very irate lorry driver emptied the entire contents of his cab out onto me as I was going past. To what point I do not know because it missed me and ended up on the road.

I commute on my bike every working day, no problem going to work because it's 05:30, but when coming home from work at 17:00 traffic is a nightmare. When approaching roundabouts I do creep along the outside and 90% of cars will pull over into the left, which I always acknowledge with a thank you with my left hand, but you will always get the non-biker who doesn't like it. It's not as if you are depriving of them of a space in front of them but they think that if they have got to sit in a queue they don't like anybody that doesn't. 90% of vehicles accept that bikers can go where cars/vans/lorries can't go so they accept it. You will always get the odd dickhead.

Unfortunatly not free, a replacement about ten years ago was £15.00 Admittedly up to now I have used a holder with a rubber ring holding the disc in which is very easy to remove, but as from today I have just bought an aluminium holder which you need an allen key to remove disc, but I think that if someone is determined to steal it they could break it off.
