Chain and sprocket
In all honesty Morillo, we've all tried different combinations of sprockets. I.E. faster acceleration but slower top speed, or slower take off from lights but higher top speed. The best thing to do is leave it to the manufactures specs. Believe me, they know best.

Anyone use a tail bag?
Cheers Neo, don't want an Essex boys "manbag" maybe I'm not describing I't very good but I have got a sort of one I got from a petrol station about twenty years ago for about £1.99. But I want a more "robust" one with a buckle. Mike. BTW, the one I got from the petrol station is only held together by Velcro. I would preferably like it to be secured by a buckle.

Anyone use a tail bag?
Going slightly off on a tangent, can anybody recommend where I can get a backpack with only one strap? Not sure what it's called but It's a bit like a diagonal bag that you put over one shoulder and can swivel around to the front. Mike.

Fuel Tank Leak
Believe it or not, about ten years ago I had a fuel leak from the bottom of the tank whilst at work. Blu Tac got me home til I sorted the problem out. Mike.

FJ1200 running problem
Only clutching at straws, but could it be to do with this? The bike is factory engine wise other than a free flow exhaust. Mike.

Licence categories
Blimey. When I left school in 1964 a learner could ride up to a 250cc (350cc with a sidecar) with L plates. When I started on bikes in 1989 it was up to 125cc on a "Grandfathers" licence that you could ride for ever and a day. BUT. the law changed in 1995 so I had to take a CBT then take my bike test. No Mod 1 or 2 in those days. To qualify for my emergency stop the examiner literally jumped out in front of you.

New rider, newbie question..
As Bippo said. Definitely a neck warmer!!!! Before I started wearing one in the Eighties I was riding home from work and a bee stung me in the throat and left his poison sac in my throat. Luckily I was in the Red Cross at the time so I knew what to do.I got home and with a pair of tweezers extracted the sac without pushing the poison into my throat. So since then I've always worn a neck warmer. Mike.

Totally concur Jimmy. As you said "Take your time getting used to it" Especially at roundabouts. You need to be extra vigilant because for some reason car drivers for some reason do not see bikers.

Brill Alex, and welcome to the forum. You've done well by introducing yourself first. I used to have a XJ600 division which I presume is a precursor to yours. Mike.

CYNIC!!!! I totally agree where you're coming from. You have a life changing condition. You have to change your lifestyle. Just adapt to it and get over it. Believe it or not you are not the only one to suffer from this condition.

BLACK IRON PIPE!
Hi Slice, would a 5/8th diameter do? Just over 6ft in length. I've had this in my shed for about ten years, a bit rusty but if any good your'e more than welcome to it. I can cut into manageable lengths if required. Will try and send a few pics but not very good at that.

Sorry to hear that Cynic. I know It's not much help in your present situation but just remember there's always somebody worse off than you. Mike.
