  1. Hi Jinx, well I've just replied to yours so maybe you ought to change your name.
  2. Hi Leigh and welcome to the forum. I have a sort of connection with Perth as in I visited Fremantle whilst in the RN in 1966 and my son was there about a year ago travelling. But....................... Although you have done a good intro you do then need to go to the relevant section, in your case the "Workshop" section. Then I'm sure you will get all the help you need.
  3. Hi Adie, from Barnsley, A Yorkshire lad then. Had a good day today thanks.
  4. Try a bit harder John. At least start again from the beginning and try to explain what you are trying to say. In a nutshell, if you have a problem with your bike try to elaborate, ideally in the right section. in your case the workshop. but ideally introduce yourself in the "Intro" section first so we all know what sort of biker you are. Then I'm sure you will get more help that way.
  5. Well It's Friday now, so the obvious question is how did you get on with your theory?
  6. Hi Tom, must rate amongst one of the best intros. So, welcome to the forum. I visited Perth whilst in the RN in 1966 although we docked in Fremantle my son was in Perth about a year'ish ago. So that must mean I'm about your age. But not quite.
  7. For future reference, when you tighten the oil drain plug as long as it is fitted with a good copper washer you don't need to go mad when tightening it. Presumably if you are using a socket and ratchet just tighten it up until it stops then just tighten a further 1/4 turn and that will suffice. As for the oil filter, it only needs to be hand tight (honestly), so when screwing it on by hand when it gets a bit tight just tighten it in about 1/8 more.
  8. Hi Paul and welcome to the forum. Getting your bike before the test is a good incentive, so I hope you pass then you can get on your new bike but just be careful because it's a big step up from a 125 to a 950.

  11. Glad you got it sorted out Baffled. But believe it or not I had the same bike as you and after ten years of commuting to work in all types of weather with the bike left outside all the time the one thing I never had any trouble with is the carbs.
  12. Bridlington? Ashfordly? Aidensfield? Whitby?
  13. Hi Jay, fantastic photos and welcome to the forum but one thing I did notice apart from the can of WD40 there is one very famous blue can from Melbourne missing.
  14. Must be the shortest intro yet. But anyway
  15. Hi Matt, first of all welcome to the forum. I had the older style divvy, the xj600S (2000) for ten years and it was so reliable it got me to work and back in all types of weather being left outside and only covered over in frosts. So I'm sure yours will be a fantastic bike.
  16. Wotcher Cocker, welcome to the forum.
  17. My moneys on hedgehogs. I went up my garden last week to investigate a snorting/snoring noise and it was two hedgehogs.
  18. Hi Keith, and welcome. I will be down in your neck of the woods for my hols in Sept. Mike
  19. Cheers Sacha, but I think we have gone off on a bit of a tangent here so I had better leave it there.
  20. That's exactly what she was "fashion before comfort" The annoying part was that we took her to the shop so that she could choose a coat for school and one for "social" with her mates, bearing in mind she was only thirteen and we weren't going to let her go out at night but only to go down town at the weekend. I don't know if your secondary modern school girls do the same but ours tried to make their school ties as short as possible.
  21. Ten years ago when my daughter was thirteen she set off to school in January/February, (bearing in mind we were under about a foot of snow at the time) she wouldn't wear the coat that we bought for her (that she chose) for this type of weather. Fortunately, or unfortunately I wouldn't let her go out of the house unless she wore it. She refused to wear it so in front of her I rang her school to say that she won't be coming to school and why. It wasn't the type of coat, but that she wasn't going to wear any coat at all. Anyway, to cut a long story short, she never refused to wear a coat again when it was cold. But, now ten years later she is the she the perfect daughter/lady that we could wish for.
