  1. Got to be honest Sicey, never had the water problem on mine as the unit is waterproof anyway.
  2. It really does sound that the battery has died. How old is the battery? On my Divvy the battery lasted for ten years, a battery does like to be used regular. As I used mine every working day for ten years it did last a long time but irregular use will shorten the battery life. One day I went out on the bike and it started perfect. but when I parked the bike to go somewhere for five minutes then came back out the bike just would not start. The battery literally died there and then. The only other thing I can think of is, when you try to start it does the oil light come on but no response when you press the starter button?
  3. Fantastic photos Oldman. I envy you going out as a family together. As I said previously my kids have fled the nest and my wife wont go on the back. Shame really because we went through Wales today and there were loads of bikers about and I was stuck with driving her Ford fiesta.
  4. Ash blonde Danno not grey. Welcome to the forum. I sometimes get that reaction and I'm 67. Over here it's surprising how many bikers are in their "prime of life" I always say, "I might be 67 outside but I'm only 27 inside"

    new bike

Bleeding Ell Lazzy!!!! That's the HGV of bikes.
  6. Hi Freddie, I'm just down the road from you (M4)
  7. Blimey Slice. I was sitting on the edge of my seat reading that.
  8. Happy retirement Meatloaf. I've been retired two years now and I've been putting my chemical engineering background to the test. For the last two years I've been trying to convert beer, wine and whisky into urine. I'm getting there slowly but think it will take a few more years yet.
  9. Yeah, this forum isn't a Q&A site. Believe it or not we are a very friendly "family" sort of site. We do like to help anybody and there is a lot of knowledgeable members on here. The Workshop section is fantastic if you have got mechanical problems. Also we are, as I said a very close knit family to even just to chat to from all over the globe. I doubt that I would recognize Plymouth then as I was last there in the late sixties. I remember Union Street (the pussycat club) and the Barbican and also Guz but that's about all.
  10. There you go Mike, now in the right section(new members intro)
  11. Actually Mike, you've done a great intro albeit in the wrong section. It's a funny old forum, very friendly but we do like newbies to introduce themselves first, which you have done rather than the "one hit wonders" that come on here and ask a question never to be heard of again. Anyway, As I said before. Welcome to the forum. Btw. I was stationed in Plymouth in my Navy days, Devonport to be precise.
  12. Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. Got to be honest, I got bored after the third line. You should have posted in the Newbie section first methinks.
  13. When she is that age, believe me she knows more swearwords than you think.
  14. That brings back memories Cynic. How old is your daughter? I remember when mine wanted to come on the bike when she was about 15-17ish and she kept wanting me to take her to Cribbs Causeway shopping centre in Brizzle. I found out later that it wasn't just the shops she wanted to go to but the ride on the M4/M5. But, alas she has now fled the nest now so I'm on my own now, btw the wifey won't come on the bike.
  15. Hi Str, welcome to the forum. Trying to read your text and wondering where you're from. Give us a clue will you. Mike
  16. Funnily enough Mall but twice I've had my bike fall over in the snow and twice the brake lever has ended up like that and believe it or not when the lever is like that it's a better position to firmly grip onto because your right hand secures into the curve. I even bought a replacement lever but by the time I received it I was more than happy with the bent lever.
  17. Hi Barry (Baz in the UK) First of all the best advice i can give you is to introduce yourself in the new members section. You will get a lot of help if you do because we are annoyed at the "one hit wonders" that come on here and ask for advice and never to be heard of again. We will help anyone but you must appreciate this is a friendly forum and not a Q&A site. All I can suggest is if you paid 700 bucks and the problem is not fixed then then take it back and get them to sort it out. You might not get a lot of response at the moment because It's nearly 23:00 (11pm) here and most of us are either in bed or thinking of going to bed. Btw, don't worry about being 61 I'm clickity click.
  18. Blimey! That brings back memories. cleaning windows, weeding the front garden etc.
  19. How old is the battery? an old battery can literally just die, one minute it starts the bike perfect then the next time you press the starter it's flat as a pancake, no life at all. As for a "litium ion battery" I presume it's just a typo and you mean "lithium ion battery" I must admit I've never heard of one on a bike only in power tools. I've twice had a battery fail on me due to age, once on the bike then only a couple of weeks ago on the wife's car and in both cases it was the battery exhausted as in R.I.P. battery. But as NSD says check connections especially the earth lead.
  20. dyb, dyb, dyb. dob, dob, dob. (do our best)
  21. Take note of the above reply Ben. If you are a genuine member asking for help we will bend over backwards to help you. But. If you are a "one hit wonder" you will not get a lot of help here. We do get a lot of bikers coming on here and expecting us to solve their problems and then never to be heard of again. I hope you're not one of them. Regards Mike
