My New Bike, what model is it though?
So far you have learned a few things about your motorcycle, but the learning has only just begun. Have another look at..... and see if you can learn something from that ! Also slow down, If you rush into motorcyling the way you have rushed into the forum, you will only become another statistic.

FIRST BIKE HAVE NO LICENCE NEED HELP TO GET STARTED
you might be hard pushed to get spares from the uk, If I'm right the Seca was produced for the American market. Look on Ebay.com for spares from the US.

FIRST BIKE HAVE NO LICENCE NEED HELP TO GET STARTED
Hi Kris and welcome to the forum, Looks like you have a XJ 400 Seca, not a Fazer, but still a very tidy looking bike.

tire dressing?
Hi little Dave, i have used for some time Auto Glym Vinyl & Rubber care on my bike, its great on the black plastic bits and I spray some on and old shoe brush and scrub the sidewalls of my tyres and then wipe off any excess, hey presto new looking tyres, just don't spray it on the tread. Click on the link below. Cheers RWP. http://www.autoglym-shop.com/?gclid=COTW6K...CFZwA4wodQH6zng

Not many folk out there had Diversions then? Fj900 Divvy, heavy old beast but shaft driven with a bullet proof motor that, with the right tyres on can chase after anything. Mind you My Fjr 1300 can frighten the pants of some sports bikers !!!!!!!

Highly recomend this book, Can I also sugggest guys that if you try to get in touch with your local Blue Knights Motorcycle club and speak to some of the members they will happily give you advice on riding safely and point you in the right direction of someone that can give you and observed ride who will be able to help you improve your riding enjoyment. Ride safe and have fun.

Bike comfort....
Felt compelled to speak up for the Yamaha FJR1300,,,,, been riding one for the past two years and have done plenty longish trips. with the adjustable screen you should have no worries finding a position with the screen that give you no neck problems. I suffer from chronic back problem and can do three hundred miles on mine and get off at the other end and feel as if I have just popped up to the shop and back. Can also bring the screen down, panniers off and chase the boys on R6's.

baking soda
Have been using rainX on my current visor for past three years and it has been off and on the helmet for cleaning severa time and is still flexible. A while ago my other half used baking powder to clean our NEW stainless steel cooker and you can still see the scratch marks. !!!!!!

baking soda
Dont Know about the baking soda, but I swear by RAIN'X, you can get it in Halfords and it works a dream on visors and windshields. A tiny amout on your visor and it keeps it free of water, and also makes it easier to clean the bugs off at the end of a run. Try it on your cars windshield, you can drive in heavy rain behind a juggernaught with the wipers off. They also do an anti fog for the inside.

Ferry Crossings and bikes - a bad mix?
Sorry to come in late on this topic but have gone by ferry a few times and I normally put my gloves on the saddle and then put the ratchet strap over the top it stops the side panels getting scuffed. either that or take an off cut of an old bit of carpet about six inches wide and two foot long. Enjoy the trip.

Well hello fellow Scot, should I say "young Scot" never mind the newbies, I thought that this was becoming an R6/ 125 forum. Nice to see another FJR.
