I have a 83 XJ 750 maxim, and need to know if I can replace the spark plug wires off the coils alone, or do I have to replace it all together?

I have a 1983 XJ 750 Maxim. I screwed up the wires last year, they are now sparking out on the engine block. I have been pricing new coil packs, and cannot afford the 120/side they will cost. My question is, can I replace just the wires? Looks like they are part of the coil and does not come apart easily. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks.
