  1. problem solved , the plug had been bypassed as the switch is faulty , the wiring connection that bypassed the switch had corroded and broken apart when i have benn moving wiring .
  2. Having an absolute nightmare trying to rebuild my R6 , bought it a month ago , to find later ro my displeasure that the previous owner had butchered several sections of wiring among other things , anyway onto the problem .... I have come to reconnect all the wiring , everything present and accounted for and all plugs attached , except one , i cannot find where abouts the 4 pin plug from the ignition switch fits , i have spent 2 days looking to see if i have missed anything and i just cant see anything , no plugs in the loom and cant see where it could possibly go , the bike will not turn over on the starter motor , not sure if it will run with a bump start , the bike started and ran before i stripped it down but there were wires twisted and taped together in several places as well as a few wires that were badly burned (and have now been replaced ) if anyone can tell me where this plug fits (or even better a picture of where) i would be extremely grateful
  3. thanks guys , oldgitonabike im definately planning on staying on this one , hurt a fair bit last time , all because some BMW driver "didnt see me" on my bright yellow bike hmmmmmm planning on being here a while so figured i might aswell become a fully paid up member too
  4. problem solved , the pump fitted to my bike is from an R1 ! new pump ordered
  5. Wondering if anyone would be able to help me , im currently rebuilding a 1999 R6 , the previous numpty... sorry owner , in their infinite wisdom decided it would be a good idea to remove the fuel pump bracket and move the pump , simply wrapping it in rubber and electrical tape and laying it under the fuel tank I have bought the bracket to refit the pump but the pipe positions on the pump dont look right , one is a straight pipe from the pump the other is a 90 degree bent pipe i have seen a picture of a pump on ebay where both pipes are bent at 90 degrees , im thinking my bike may have the wrong pump fitted (the term "fitted" is used loosely) but cant find any other pictures anywhere showing the pump in position , could anyone possibly confirm this for me ?
  6. not so much newbie , not been on here in 2 years though , last time i was here had just been knocked off my FZ600 , which unfortunately went to the scrapyard in the sky, after a few years of physio and reconstructive knee surgery im finally able to ride again , so just purchased an S reg R6 , bit of a project as does need a little attention but should be back on 2 wheels soon enough. just thought id reintroduce myself as i wasnt on here long the first time around

hopefully gonna be straight forward claim but ya never know with these things , and my boss is letting me work from home using a laptop which is a bonus as i coldnt survie on £70 quid a week or whatever it is now . police came round for my statement earlier and has said they are charging the guy with drivig without due care and attention and that from all the witnesses statements , from my statement and from the evidence at the scene , there is no way that i could have done anything to avoid it . if it takes a while to sort out the insurance company has offered me a loan bike until its all sorted , which shows they are confident of getting all costs back as i am covered 3rd party only , but all depends on how long it takes my legs to heal . thanks for the well wishes guys , much appreciated

didnt get anyones details at time , was laid out til ambulance came , fortunately there was an AA guy who stopped n called police , a couple of people who witnessed it stopped and the guy in the car didnt try to disappear (not that he could have with the FZ wedged under his car ) so police got everyones details , the PC who attended is coming round for my statement this afternoon and is going to give me the details of everyone there . dont think the car driver will argue bout whose fault it was though, the 2 policemen who were on scene said you could see exactly what had happened jus from the scene and they took loads of photos . Car driver didnt even come over to see how i was either , which was rather nice of him.

Once again the age old excuse came out I got knocked off my bike last night , some p**** pulled straight across front of me without even slowing down . i'm now laid up in bed unable to walk , damaged ligaments and muscles in both legs from knee down . amazingly i've not got so much as a scratch anywhere else thanks to leathers , and my legs would have been much worse but my boots took a lot of the impact, how anyone cant see a yellow bike with headlights on when its getting dark is beyond me . anyway my fz600 is now a complete write off , only had it a week , and it looks like im gonna be laid up for weeks til i can walk right again , doc said my left leg should be a lot better in a few days an should be able to get round on crutches then , but right legs is bugered at minute think thats where i went into car and think i landed on it too . all because some moron didnt slow down and look before turning across my lane

Hi Jim , its an air cooled FZ600 , was looking at an FZR600 but this one came up at a good price (£335 on ebay , and came with MOT) , only problem ive noticed is the exhaust blowing slightly , but will probably find a few other when i get chance to go over it properly ,i've just got it home after a lovely 60 mile ride down the motorway in galeforce winds , heavy rain and bloody halestones . Was a bit of a mission to say the least but now shes home can start having a fettle and tidy her up a bit and get out on the road on 2 wheels again as ive not had a bike in over 2 years.

Hi all , i'm Rob , just joined up a moment ago as i've just bought a old 1987 fz600 off of ebay (i mean literally just bought it , not even picked it up yet) , so thought i would have a gander and see what its like on here , and if any one has a bit of knowledge of the fz600 i.e. common faults and problems to watch for , any advice would be very much appreciated .
