  1. Not sure of size, but sheering resistance of stainless will not be as strong as high tensile
  2. Had an intermittent electrical problem for a few weeks now, battery runs flat after 5 to 7 miles or so, but not always. Measured the voltage from the reg/rect to the battery and sometimes get 14volts at 5k rpm, but not always, can be as low as 11 volts Have checked the reg/rect as best I can, appears to be working correctly by not passing current one way with + probe in +lead to all 3 whites = OL, -probe in +lead to all 3 whites = reading -probe in -lead to all 3 whites = OL, +probe in -lead to all 3 whites = reading Field coil resistance reads 3.1 ohms, brushes are new too, coms are both clean and in good shape Resistance between all 3 whites (w1 to w2/w1 to w3 etc) reads 0.1 ohms when checked at plug at the alternator end of the lead, which I think is ok Hers the problem I think. All 3 whites read down to earth ie 0.1 oms when checked at the same plug and to the earth/engine spade, also at the spark plugs. Is that where my missing charging current is going? Is there anything else I need to check before shelling out for an alternator? Thanks Ray

Depends how much work you intend to do Basic kit would probably be a 3/8 drive socket set, sockets 8mm af to 19mm af set of hex allen keys, 2mm af to 10mm af couple of medium sized flat and crosspoint screw drivers a hand hammer, 1 1/2lb Just collect the kit as you go along after that Lidl and Aldi have reasonable tools in at a fair price, just watch for when they have them in
  10. I would advise not. Paints etc may react with the material the helmet is made from. Has it ever been dropped?

Change it ASAP, other people on here have had chains give on the move with disasterous results, additional mechanical damage

The wet weather finally got to me last week. looked out the kitchen window Friday and Saturday, still pissing down both days, just couldn't face another ride at 5.30am in the dark, rain, roads covered over with sheets of water that hide the potholes, took the car both days. I can't recall ever seeing the roads in such dreadful condition
