remember back when.... 1990
Its chocka everywhere around here these days.Teenagers driving around in cars that would have been on a track 30 years ago. Dont know where they get the money from. I could only afford bangers until I was in my forties. Had to save like fuck just to buy a clapped out mini. Also millions more female drivers than there ever was

Too much engine oil over virago xv125
Only try to undo the drain screw with a socket(6 point preferably), or a ring spanner, never an adjustable or open ender. You could try getting the excess oil out with one of those meat basting things, you know, with the squeezy rubber ball on the end. If youve had the carb cleaned and its not running right, take it back I have a copy of the xv 250 parts manual, the exploded drawings would be useful for seeing how parts are arranged/assembled if youre serious about doing stuff yourself

virago 535 1988 1100 pounds
1988? I think that'll be one with the underseat tank. Limited range on them, only 100 miles or so.

New bike
OOOOOOh yes, they look better. They'll wake em up at the afternoon tea dance. Not much of a rear seat though

89 Radian Seat too high, lowering options
Take the seat off and fliick out the rubber stops on the underneath, lowers it a few millimetres. failing that, you can get the seat foam modded to suit. I had a radian upto earlier this, fantastic little bikes. Wish Id kept it now

Good day out yesterday
Had a ride up to Darley Moor, took in a days racing. Grass roots stuff, 20 races on the day, and only £12 to get in. Loads of folk there for the weekend camping.

Why cant traders give you a straight answer?
Thats a link to Sandys Bike Spares, I believe thatn they manufacture too. Its could be worth ringing them, they may be able to make using your old set as a template. Otherwise it looks like buying bits and bobs from the states

My first big bike Yamaha virago / Honda cbr1000 streetfighter
My advice is dont be hasty Get yourself into as many bike showrooms as you can, sit on loads of different bikes, of all types sportys/cruisers. Get to know how much itll cost for insurance for the different types When you think you know what type you want, ask for test rides Dont buy the first one you see cos its from a mate When you think youre there, then ask again on here

1981 XV750H Tacho Not Working
Well sorted. I'm with Cynic. Strip the failed one to find the original problem. There is a thread on here somewhere about someone who stripped and repaired his regulator (I think) dirt cheap

Dragstar breaking question.
As an exercise for future reference, get your parts list sorted for overhauling the BRAKE system. You can search the prices on the net, then you'll know how much it would cost to do it yourself, and how much the garage are charging you for parts and labour. Be specific about what you want them to do, don't leave any grey areas. If they say they'll fix it for you, tell them you want to know exactly what they propose to do. It may pay to bite the bullet now and have the complete system overhaul ie master cyl/pistons/seals/pads than have it part done and have to do the rest later in the year. Least you've a base point for reference for the future good luck with it

Dragstar 650 shaft drive failure?
Got nothing like that. Heat then soak with plusgas for a couple of days, unless a local machine shop can knock you up a box spanner for it

Mt07 or hornet?
It'll all come down to personal choice in the end and how much youre prepared to apy for a bike Cant really go wrong with either of the 3 bikes, look at service intervals, prices of common spares, insurance Good luck with whatever you go for

Dragstar 650 shaft drive failure?
Part no No (lets call it 7.5) will be pricey im guessing as its the worm drive shaft, normally changed as a set with the worm wheel, also likely to be equally hideuosly expensive, if available. A decnet second hand matched set may well be the soundest option if you want to swap them out. Part 26 may well be the sacrificial part in the drive mechanism, to save wear an tear on the (unavailble?) expensive parts. Dont forget to check for any possible failure cause If it were me, id be inclined to fit 26 and get running while keeping an eye out for a good second hand gear worm/wheel set, Good luck with it
