Stafford Show,
It amazes me that some folk actually spot what they want amongst the piles of junk. I had a real good look at an xv750 that was on sale. One of the rear shocks had collapsed and the chrome on the engine cases peeled off when i rubbed it with my finger. Not a good example. £3,750 they were asking. Unbelievable.

Stafford Show,
Nice day out. Sun shone bright after lunch. Got there nice and early, left just after 3.30. Bought the usual consumables for the year, tape/cable ties etc. Although there clearly room for negotiation, the price of the for sale bikes was very optimistic. £600 for a rotten non runner C50. Chuff me, I had one when I was an apprentice in late 60s, paid £20 for it, and all i ever did to it was put fuel in. Occasionally. I cant even remember what I did with it when I passed my driving test. The kick start was snapped when I bought it, I just used to drop it into second gear and walk a few paces with it and it fired up. Every time. Only came off once, riding to work at 5 oclock one morning in a foot of snow. Rode 5 miles in it then slipped off 10 yards from the workshop door.

1981 XV 750 5G5 Engine
Wow, talk about quitting easy. Did the knock suddenly start, or has it grown over a longer time period Does it knock when in neutral, or on the move, or both Does the motor still run smoothly albeit with a knock. You need to give more history

spain trip 2017
Good show. Oddly, the first thing that stuck me was the lack of roadside litter/debris. No binliners, setees, bosted lorry tyres etc etc

Dragstar 125 Clutch. (odd question).
dont know how far you went with the dis-assmbly, but ill assume that you have the long and short pushrods and ball in correclty. Id double check to make sure that you have the mark on the push lever and the mark on the case lined up. Do you have a copy of the service manual?

Yamaha XS250
Im no expert and not familiar with the bike, but id be staggered if the alternator was meant to run wet. A multimeter is reqd for checking voltages etc

~~Daily Feed, post what made you laugh today ~~
Must have been a babies arm to not go round the bend. Sounds like she then fished it out and tried to chuck outside. Cant understand why she didnt just get a kitchen knife and slice it up like a cucumber. It would have flushed then

85 XV700 timing / backfire ,,anyone ?
Blimey. Another old thread resurrected. Id be inclined to check the simple stuff firts. Strat with the service items, plugs/air filter/connections etc. You dont give any history on the bike so its tough to know what to say. Has it just been put back on the road, is the mileage high, is it old fuel, does it have the canister for storing and burning spent fuel (cant remember what thats called) when the throttle is shut off

Donny Park Monday
I should have done this thirty years ago. The sports bike is off the agenda for me now, dont think I could get the knees up. Id like perhaps something with a few more horses so I can hang on to the big boys on the straights, but to be honest, I can pull em back on the brakes cos theyre real sharp on the fazer. Hey Ho, might look at a fazer8 next year

Donny Park Monday
I cant get enough now. Just about got the lines right now, braking much later. People rode up from Norwich, and down Glouster way last week. Hopefully, will try to get to the road bikes trackday in October next

XJ6 Diversion F gear indicator
If you do decide to fit one, I fitted a GIPRO X-Type GPX-U01 to my FZ6 S2 Fazer 16 months ago. It was a faff getting the connections in as not much slack on the loom in places, but apart from that, it has performed flawlessly, worked straight from the box, and is easy to set

New question for me old question for you
I didnt start until my mid 50s, 65 now. Went for the full licence. 600cc is good enough to get you to 140mph. I take my fazer to donington park two/three times a year to satisfy the speed urge, makes me feel like a teenager. Do it.
