  3. Basics first so surely it has to be starter? Errr, no. Can be many things preventing start. How do you know the new battery is fully charged. Do you have a multi-meter? Check that all of the switches linked to start system are not holding you off eg side stand switch/kill switch

Thanks chaps I did wonder if the difference was related to being the outer two cylinders, the other possibility was an intermittent coil firing from coil 1/4 but I discounted that as the bikes running well As the screw heads show signs of previous attacks, and there will be no improved performance, I'm gonna leave them alone

Yeah, some terrific bands used to do the college/uni tour, mostly on a friday night. Beer was dirt cheap, subsidised by the taxpayer if I recall

Bit of late summer maintenance work today, checking over stuff as you do. Plugs 1 and 4 look to be running a little rich, 2 and 3 are fine, bikes running good If my understanding is correct, is this the air adjustment screw? If it is (and both heads look mullered), is it in or out to weaken? Thanks

Thought I'd spend a while in the man cave today, having a furtle with the bikes. Came across a box of old floppy discs, and this was in there too Fortunately, I've still got this in the cave Slipped it in and played like new Marvellous Be Bop Deluxe Manfred Mann Earthband Moody Blues Focus 70s were the best for music

  17. Oops, DT beat me to it. Yep, thats the one, but swap the ferrule for the metal one from the old cable
  18. I bought one from WEMOTO last year The cable has been fine, but the plastic ferrule at the lever end was crap, distorted after a few weeks, so I replaced the ferrule with the metal one from the old cable
  19. Could be off the chain, if youve oiled it too much Cant remember exactly, is the oil filler screw/plug that side too? Is it secure? Simple things first

Ride home from Loughborough to Sandiacre. Intermittent electrical fault on the yx600, at the last set of lights before joining the M1at Kegworth, the damned thing cut, no power, stopped on green in the central lane, HGVs flying past both sides, lights change to red, stationery HGVs now both sides so cant get to the side of the road either now. Dismounted, when the first truck on my left had past me, I just legged it to the side and hoped the next HGV would slow a little, made it ok. Then pushed the bike 2 miles on a red hot day to my daughters house, was cold when I left home in the morning so Idput my sheepskin on. Absolutely dripping wet when I got there as you have to keep the helmet on too
