I'm absolutely astonished at the cost of the part. Are bikes getting too sophisticated? Is electronically controlled suspension something which benefits ordinary everday road riders.? or are the EU in cahoots with manufacturers to stop us servicing our own bikes. Id have something that Ive a fair chance of keeping on the road myself, arther than something on which the constituent parts value totals 20 times more than the bike costs. Only a suggestion, but is there not a bog standard non electronic new shock from another model that can slot in, and use it without the leccytronicals?

Its a shaft drive, could even be a universal joint failing. I wouldnt ride the bike again until youve nailed the problem. If you bought it from a dealer, get them to pick it up and take it back sharpish

You could try here http://acewell.co.uk/. All depends on what youre after

"Hesitant" acceleration on Virago XV250
neversaydie replied to cliverlong's topic in Yamaha Workshop
Is it a vacuum operated fuel tap? The carb rubber need to have no leaks/splits etc, fuel tap needs to be working properly and clean inside, as does the filter inside the fuel tank, no kinks in the fuel pipes, clean fresh fuel, throttle cables set correctly. Eliminate the easy ones before fettling with the carb -
If its the same as the xv250, look at page 16, carburetor.

MF Battery - can it be charged at home?
neversaydie replied to 125's Enough!'s topic in Yamaha Customs
Id be tempted to buy a new non sealed battery replacement after 11 years of use. Should start the bike after 2 weeks -
Never heard of that. Do you get them from the same source as the Power Bands? Ive heated up sockets before and then slipped on the nut sharpish, let the heat transfer through to the nut, and got em undone that way. Much more efficient i guess than electrically heated sockets

I was at Donny in 81, Slade were without the best band on show, came on late afternoon I think, the atmosphere immediatley lifted as their brand of rocky pop lifted the spirit on what was a grey and damp afternoon. The rest of the show was mediocre, AC/DC have never been as good without Bon Scott

Made it out ok, lovely days ride, 120 miles, even chilled and watched the cycle racers passing by through Hope

Wow, that brought some memories back, great post Loved the seventies, great music, great bands. Drove all over central England to gigs 2-3 times a week in the autumn/winter (gigs tended to be seasonal for some reason). We did well to arrive back safe as drinking and driving just wasn't a consideration then. Kind of got me thinking, best gig ever? Generallyalways had a good time, but 2 always seem to stay at the forefront of the memories, AC/DC first UK tour in the mid seventies at Derby Assembly Rooms. Memorable because because the local authority had filled the hall with chairs, within a minute of the band striking up, the bouncers were desperately chucking the chairs yards over everyones heads and into the sides of the hall cos everyone leapt to their feet. Late in the gig, Bon Scott emerging at the back of the hall with Angus on his shoulders and rockin out into the pit with the fans The other was Uriah Heap at Leicester De Montfort Hall, for the excitement generated, and the fact that I ordered a round of "24 pints please mate" cos were were upstairs and couldnt be arsed to walk down part way through

Still unsure if I can make it or not, family commitments and now the roofers are coming to fit a new flat roof at the back. Never a dull moment here.

exhaust looks very similar to the one I had on the yx600, Predator motorsports

You would be very fortunate to fnd a second hand engine indeed Your description of the problem isnt very good. Is it a continuous noise, where does the noise come from,, when did it start-at start up or on a run. Is it firing on one or both cylinders

I think the R version is for the American market.I bought an FZ6 S2 earlier this year, rides nicely, not had any problems reliability, perfoms as it should, finish looks good quality, decent brakes, comfortable to ride. Only downsides for me are that I find it awkward to flick the side stand down as you have to push the foot peg out the waywith your heel and in the same axction shove the stand down, not particularly well designed. And the gearbox is very cluncky in first and second
