650 Dragstar not clicking?
Could be the fuel pump - it usually make a bit of a racet when I switch on an particularly if you forget to turn the fuel on. If you ran out of petrol have you swapped it back to main tank?

Dragstar 650 top speed
GASCO and all speed cameras are set at plus 10% plus 2mph to allow for speedo discrepancies. so you can do 78 and not get flashed. But you need a gps to be sure. My gps reads 87 when I manage to get my 650 showing 90, but I have got a screen on it.

First oil change on V-star 950
I think they all seem to do that - even my 650. I think it is just the gears not quite syncing.

New key for dt?
A good locksmith might be able to help (not the kiosks you see in shopping centres). You could always ask your local Yamaha dealer too - but that may cost more - but worth an ask.

Boot buying help
The gear lever can be moved (rotated) on its spline. Yes - ask them to do it. It should only take 5 minutes.

Boot buying help
Move the lever up a bit so you can get yer hoof under it - it is fitted on a spline. I of course can use the back of the gear lever

That's what it says - and my visor is clear

Helmet Visor in the morning
But have you seen the little sticker that comes with a pinlock - 'daytime use only'? What's that about? I never noticed it on my Shoei until I took the visor off one day to clean it. The guy in the shop that fitted the pinlock for me must have stuck it on.

old thumper bad wiring
I'm sure there will be some on here that might help - but an introduction in the New Members section will smooth the process, and it is only polite. As someone else has said - you wouldn't walk up to a group a chaps in a bar and just ask a question.

YBR 125, Will it do or not?
I had one from new and it would do 60mph ok but very little more unless downhill - and I am 80kg It was fine for everything except motorways - and you did have to plan passing lorries carefully

Upgrading the headlight.
Somewhere on here there is a very good piece about the electrical output from a XVS 650 and what extra lights use. As I recall there was very little spare output for running extra/more powerful lights. I thought I had saved it but can't find it now. Not really much help. http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffybulbs.htm this may be of some help

Why won't you start?!?!
When you used the choke did you wind the throttle open too? If so try it without throttle. The choke is there to help in colder weather.

Newbie - Clothing
I tend not to ride in very wet weather - I have the choice being retired. I have Frank Thomas stuff which has generally been ok. But today I had the bike booked in for it's MOT. What a day. The MOT garage is about 5 miles away, partly on A1(M) and when I got there the boys said they were surprised that I had turned out. It was lagging it down. And I forgot my wallet so had to get my wife to bring it in the car. However, getting to the point, I didn't suffer any leaks in the gear apart from the fingers of my gloves - probably need to be re proofed or something, and the bottom edge of my Shoei full face helmet where the odd drip blew onto my face. It's all hanging in the garage now and the bike is going to need a serious clean. Always surprised at how brown/muckythe water is off the road, and of course it all sticks. Sorry for thread drift.

Do you use your steering lock?
I generally go to a garage with 'grab and go' pumps but if I have to go inside to pay the steering lock is always on. I always put it on when I leave it in my garage too - it makes the bike a bit narrower as I use a block under the frame to keep it upright.

Kevlar jeans
I bought some Hood jeans last year - with the hard Knee and thigh protection - and have been pleased with them. I got them to leave them a couple of inches longer than I would normally have them so they don't ride up on the bike. My winter pair are fabric. I cannot report on the protecvtion - I have not fallen off

ty250 pinky wiring idea that needs opinions
Can't you just 'earth' it back to the neg side of the battery - or does it not have one?
