You mean like this 1925 CW Douglas? Not mine I'm afraid but a friend near me has 2!!

So it does. But it doesn't mention servicing. So why does it apply to motorcycles and not cars any more? I think they could be challenged on this point.

Doesn't have to be a Yamaha approved service centre to maintain your warranty. As long as serviced in accordance with the recommendations of the schedule.
  4. My foot boards on my 650 have a hinge and can fold about 35/40 degrees. And they have some sort of metal rubbing/wear strip on the outside edge. However that said, I have never grounded either board. What's that say about my riding? I'm with TM on this - no rush on a cruiser.

christofesor as far as the bike being electronically restricted thats utter bollox the only restriction the bike has is its weight and the fact its a 125cc. ...and the weight of the rider....

from a quick Google - I know nowt Most motorcycle wiring is with 16 gauge wire, which will carry 15 amps of current pretty much anywhere on a motorcycle. 14 gauge wire, which is slightly bigger and might be used to carry juice to your headlights or from the battery to your fuse panel. The bigger the wire, the more of your little electrons it can carry without heating up and causing energy to get used to heat up your wire rather than to operate your gizmo. But most of the time, 14 gauge on a motorcycle is a waste.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - except I think you may need new specs TM

    That's Sherburn in Elmet airfield.
  9. Or better still get a longer piece of timber, say 30" x 7" x 5" and at one end fit a metal bar (or could be a bit of timber) in the 7" width (edit got it wrong first time). Slide under frame and then just pivot bar to floor so it is now 7" high and supporting frame. This saves your side stand from undue stress. And your back Not sure it makes such a great plant pot stand

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_gzHIJ-R5Mp4/TMDIYFWwdfI/AAAAAAAABVk/2cXVr8yCSjQ/s400/IMG_5465.JPG This is a classic. Flared mudguards and a bit heavier than the custom I think. Otherwise all the running gear is the same and I think the manual is for either

Come and live in the country and see how much mud is being dropped on the roads by the tractors currently - sowing oil seed rape and winter wheat. Get a life, or rather keep yours - and open your eyes.

on the ring around the window there are upper and lower marks which equate to full and min levels. The bike has to be upright - my bike has to be upright - for this to operate correctly - no good on sidestand. If your glass is full it may be overfull. Yes, give me a dipstick like I had on the ybs125 any time cheers

Not sure of your type but there is a 'window' on my xvs650 but you have to get down to ground level to see it. It is under the gear change. A small torch is useful.
  15. sticks and stones.... as he minces away
  16. Oi - I have a XVS650A and when I last looked I still had the requisite gentlemen's trouser furniture.
  17. I did the same to mine a while ago. I couldn't get my wife to run fast enough to jump start it so used jump leads from my car. However it wouldn't keep running after it started, when disconnected from the car so had to put the battery on charge. It's been ok ever since.

I once thought about lifting the rear end of my Dragstar, after all I used to do it with my YBR125 - but that's all I did because I then thought what may happen if the bike moved forward and closed the side stand. Those wheels from Busters look good or I'm sure you could make something similar if cost is important. Anyway as TM said it is a good bike with a choice of model - He has the wrong one

  24. The book says adjust tyre pressure and suspension with regard to load. It says for a loading between 90 and 198kg (The max load) the tyre pressures should be 33 front and 36. It then says with regard to spring preload 1 = min (soft) 3 = standard and 7 = max (hard) I think you have to try it out at say 4 to start with and see how it feels/handles. My and my wife are about same as you (I'm bigger she's smaller ) and mine is on 3 and seems fine with or without her.
  25. I never had to produce my certificate to an insurance company, they are only interested in the write off value of the bike I would suggest, plus a loading for your reckless age You may have to produce it to the plod if stopped - and your rolling road data may be ok. However there has been other debate on here about BHP at crank or wheels and I think it came to the conclusion that it was the engine output - i.e. crank that counted. I may be wrong - my wife says I usually am
