    Sorry, I suppose that would help, my vin starts with 4R2-xxxxxx , I have tried searching online for a registry of some type to find out but came up with nothing.

    I have a 1981 XS850s that I purchased about a year ago. It was repainted and customized and I was told it was originally a Midnight Special. How can I tell from the VIN# if it is indeed a midnight Special or just a special???
