  1. 2 litre plastic milk cartons come in usefull, and not just for your delusional old woman neighbour to 'conserve' urine in, they can be cut out to make 'rim protectors', dont however use this phrase whilst in general small talk conversation with your delusional old woman neighbour !
  2. Teenagers, they just dont listen, not like us when we were that age
  3. Phone the DVLA and when the helpfull pheasant plucker says the immortal words "I'm sorry sir, its the Data protection act", then tell him/her "your going to exorcise your human rights and demand Freedom of information" I take it you've tried posting a notice on all the forums you frequent 'STOLEN DT50 reg Blah Blah'

The Fazer is a good starting out bike if you take it easy-these bikes go like stink, very easy to handle, oh and the mileage sounds a bit suss', a lot of people change the KPH clocks on imports to MPH, so the clocks and therefore mileage might not be true, take your time and dont just go diving at the first thing you see, I know I know, the temptation is too much, you must resist skywalker !
  5. Not easy to diagnose over internet, saddened to hear your having long term probs with it not to mention the money your spending too, if its not electrical then maybe fueling system ?
  6. If the straw is clear then it might be rusted (inside of tank where it joins this nipple) there might be a tiny hole allowing the fuel to pass through to the base of the straw and out the nipple you can buy a product that you pour into the tank to seal tiny holes like this-however this will mean taking the tank off the bike and removing the fuel tap, then plugging the fuel tap hole etc etc, (a bit of a job) Drewpy and Oldgitonabike who are Moderators on this site and well knowledgable guys will know this product and its name and possibly where to buy it
  7. Ok, first thing to try, if you can get hold of a piece of stiff wire-a very thin coat hanger wire or copper wire like the bare earth wire that is in the middle of electrical cable-straighten out a section about 7 inches long and poke this up through the nipple this 'straw' may be blocked and gassing up the tank (you might hear a wee short hiss if you open the filler lid ?)
  8. Firstly dont panic too much, most of the time its something simple that can quickly grow arms and legs and before you know it its 'worst case scenario time' the tank wont need replacing I dont think, the fuel is coming 'through' the nipple-but not from around it-so the tank is sealed. inside the tank (joined to this nipple) is a metal straw (if you go to your 'powder room' and lift off the toilet cistern lid you'll see a tube which sticks up just above the water line-its similair to this inside your tank) with me so far
  9. right, well Sarah, the fuel tap looks brand new so I'm guessing the previous owner had the same problem-fuel leak, the tank breather nipple looks rusty, so I'm guessing that the tank needs taken off the bike and properly repaired/sealed at this nipple, there are products out there to do this, but if I were you I'd get someone local (who knows what they're doing)to help you out, there is a potential for a fire here, and your better safe than sorry
  10. ok no probs, a pic would be good tho', the pipe might be still there, its hard to see as theres lots of 'stuff' in that area and its all crammed in
  11. Yep there should be a pipe about 12" long on that 'nipple' and it just hangs down basicaly, you dont want fuel dripping onto the starter, the pipe leads the vapour and any excess fuel (if you over fill it) past all the sparky things and dumps it on the ground (a safer place) so yes it needs a pipe connected to it
  12. No need for embarassment, we gotta start somewhere and all bikes are different, most peeps have a bolt or a screw jammed into the end of the breather on these bikes to keep the precious £1.21 a litre fuel from goin anywhere
  13. If the breather has come off or is loose it may just be a build up of vapour and the 'drip' is very slight ? but will still smell strongly of petrol
  14. Ok, that one is the 'breather' pipe, it should come off that nipple and basicaly it just drops down and is not connected to anything at the other end, and your right the starter motor is right below it, it may be that you've simply filled the fuel tank right to the top ?
  15. The Divvy fuel tap has two 'nipples' , one pointing down and one pointing to the rear of the bike ?
  16. The link to your pic doesn't seem to be working Sarah
  17. you need to sign up (free) to a pic hosting site i.e. click, and take it from there m8y
  18. Hi Pat, hope you got my 11 page PDF file on how to multiquote, it may take some time to download, and require another euro in the meter to keep the electricity on, if that doesn't help, wait til a Mod comes on-line and they will help you in a more concise way
  19. When the biker gets up I cant make my mind up whether he's taking a bow, or checking to see if he still has legs
  20. Check and adjust your chain, bet the vibe has moved to a different RPM , just get used to it-its a Divvy another thing that causes vibe is the exhaust/downpipe union
