  1. I'm still interested.
  2. It should be able to do 80mph on the DT clocks, although this wont be 80mph genuine. The wire coming out of the back of the speedo should be earthed to the frame. I put it around one of the headlight surround mounting bolts and tightened the nut over it. This will let it rev freely passed 7k rpm. Take the cover off the powervalve pulley which is down by your left knee. When you turn the ignition on, the pulley should turn. If it is pinned into place at the top the powervalve isnt operating correctly and you'll lose bottom end power but it shouldnt affect top speed. If the exhaust isnt on properly you could be losing power there. Someone must have been tampering with it to fit the DEP pipe. DEP claim an extra 10mph i believe which means it should do 90 on the clocks. Id be scared though. My DTRE would shake at the front end getting towards those speeds as the wind gets under the mudguard. Be happy with 65, do your test on the bike and move on
  3. The part OG put up is correct for an 86. I've got a DT125LC 86Mk2 and have the same tank.
  4. I don't think that was really needed was it. Ok, if someone comes on the forum and posts a question bluntly without introducing themselves and asking for help then it's fair to comment that they might need to introduce themselves before asking for help. But to go and be abusive to a new member who merely offered a second opinion and tried to help another member, i feel is utterly ridiculous and embaressing to the rest of us.
  5. Anyone from here going? I'll be there on the southbank in my 97 astra!
  6. I had a good one with a guy from work who had bought one of those chinese 125's. He said he had 110 on it but he was going down a really big hill. I laughed and told him he didnt. I then looked at his speedo, guess what!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Cheers guys will take the advice into consideration. What do you mean its a killer cynic? and also decks out?
  8. My RD350 ypvs 86 has seen 100mph on the clocks at about 8krpm. At this point a friend on an r6 came past at 160...... whata nob.... My DT125RE saw 80mph once and that was plenty on that type of bike. DT's dont need to do that kind of speed!!!!!
  9. Sounds very much to me like the throttle cale is sticking. Dissconect it at both ends, you're best off leaving the oil pump cable connected as it's a hasstle. Drop oil down one end and use the cable to push it down. Keep going til it comes out the other end. Or pump loads in and leave it to gravity to do the hard work! Make sure you connect everything back in the right when you re assemble!
  10. Well done dave! Theres the hard bit done, now just go for a ride with a man with a radio!
  11. Cheers nev, I'm well chuffed. Cosmetically, how she came. The only thing i've had to do was oil the throttle cable as it was sticking, then i put the slides back in the wrong carbs and it would only fire on one pot until i worked out why *sheepish look*. I originally wanted something that i could peice together myself but this was such a barghain i couldnt say no and i've still got the 200 to be getting on with. Got someone coming to look at the DT125RE tomorrow morning so hopefully will have the funds and space to be able to move that along soon. Going to tenerife on monday for a couple of weeks though so have been made to save money for that by the girlfriend and not spend too much on bike parts! Oh the only other thing i need to do is sort the exhausts. I think i have a bit of a leak but i need to take them off anyway to fit the centre stand i picked up on ebay. I went over to the breakfast club at goodwood on sunday with the VJMC guys and she got quite alot of attention. The only other rd350 there was a custom one on which someone had decided to produce a window in the clutch cover!?!?!?!? Why, i'm not quite sure but it was nice to stand there with many around looking at this one and think....."mines nicer"
  12. Finally taken and uploaded some decent photos of my Elsie!
  13. You can get the full decal sets from ebay. A friend has recently bought a 125RR belagarda and will be looking to bring it back to an acceptable condition so he found them there.
  14. A great looking bike! How very strange though! Everything bar the aircooled engine in there, points to it being a DT125LC MK1 which would be 1982-84 i think. You could check to see if the mountings for the radiator is there and also if the frame and engine numbers match.
  15. So, it's been a while since i've done anything with the bike due to other projects for friends. An old 87 NS125F which has now become redundant due to it needing replating. God Damn Nicosil plating! If anyone is interested, let me know. I've also been helping another friend get his latest purchase running. A 1995 Yamaha TZR125RR Belgarda. I'll soon be done with that and getting back onto the 200. I can't work out why it wont start though. I've got a good spark, it's fuelling fine but it wont start. It will keep backfiring if i keep kicking it but nothing else. I might take the engine apart and have a look as i've not opened it up at all. If anyone has any ideas, shoot!
  16. Where the hell did you find this! I was looking for ages for parts diagrams of the flat slide. My DT200WR uses the same and i was missing the nylon holder (no.4) and couldnt get hold of one anywhere! Dave, i've spent many hours scrolling through ebay looking for parts for my DT200WR which is the WR200 but with a metal tank. Alot of the parts are from the US as there are very few of these bikes in the UK. The only one i've seen is 200 quid delivered and is from the US. I bought some parts from 2wheelmad , an ebay bike breaker. They have since blocked me from their listings due to me leaving neutral feedback for their poor service (sending me wrong parts, failing to reply to emails, rude manor etc etc ) but as a last resort they might have one as they were breaking a WR200. Are you going to be running the bike premix then as that mikuni TM28SS doesnt have an inlet for the oil feed. The later DT's ran that carb but they had an adapted inlet manifold with a stub to feed the oil in there. I ran into that problem with my DT200WR. Still havnt decided whether to go premix or not. The polishing is looking great though. Can't wait to see the finished article! I really need to push on with my project too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/92-Yamaha-WR200-200-WR-rear-shock-/200609811732?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2eb546cd14
  17. Brilliant! Lovely journey to follow through the thread there Nev, and whats more some really useful stuff in there too! Nice one NEV she looks an effing beaut! Hopefully i'll be able to get some more done on the dt200 now my friend has given up on his NS125. Stay tuned!
  18. Yamaha really need to sort out their model names......"Johns Bike" just doesnt sound right! ;P
  19. Take the cable off completely and pump oil in from one end until it comes out of the other. Also make sure it is routed properly as stated before. I have a second hand Cable you can buy if you do find you cant fix it but i'm sure you'll be able to sort it without the need.
  20. wellll....come on! Tell us the result!!!
  21. But would that account for the fact that it changes? e.g. after the duals? I just started it from cold and it was doing it then too. But if i spray WD down the slides it will temp fix it.
  22. Ok so The RD is great...but.... After going out for a fairly long ride, towards the end i noticed that when i was changing gear the revs wernt dying off quick enough when i pulled the clutch in and she was revving at around 5krpm. I first thought, air leak but a hell of a lot of WD40 spraying i got nothing. I oiled the top half of the throttle cable, which didnt help. I've taken the slides out and put some oil back up the cable from that end towards the junction box and also sprayed some WD down the slides to see if they were sticking. It worked. I went out on a test ride. At low speeds with the throttle openeing marginly and changing position alot it was fine. I took it along the duals and had the throttle open and staying in one position for a while and when i got to the other end, the symptoms had returned. Back at low speeds with lots of throttle changing, it got better again, then along the duals again and it returns. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
